IN 2010 GOA CHIEF SECRETARY’S TRAVELS COST THE EXCHEQUER RS 8, 47, 827

PANJIM: In 2010 Goa’s Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Srivastava made 27 official trips within India and two trips overseas. This has been revealed in the information furnished to Adv. Aires Rodrigues under the Right to Information Act by the Chief Secretary’s office.
The information furnished to Adv. Aires Rodrigues has revealed that a total of Rs 5, 91,099 was spent on the 27 trips made by the Chief Secretary within India while an expenditure of Rs 2, 56,728 was incurred on the two trips overseas.
The Chief Secretary’s trips within India include 22 to Delhi, 2 to Mumbai, 2 to Hyderabad and one to Udaipur. The two foreign trips were a 13 day trip to Korea and the other a 7 day one to Spain.
The only unofficial trip made by the Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Srivastava in 2010 was to Varanasi under the Leave Travel Concession and cost Rs 39,962.
Reacting to the information furnished to him Adv. Aires Rodrigues has wondered as to why the Chief Secretary had to travel so frequently given that we are in an age where issues could be sorted out through video conferencing and other electronic means.
Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that such frequent traveling and extravagant expenditure was contrary to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s directive that there should be an austerity and restraint in official travels by Ministers and officers.
“While the Chief Secretary has been a frequent flier Goa’s Aam Aadmi had been suffering as the local administration lacked direction and had become dysfunctional,” stated Adv. Rodrigues.

  1. The world should give us a chance if we want to be citizens of Portugal, if we want to have a country of our own name GOA.

There should be an Opinion poll, so that we can choose what we want. Goans are not slaves or property of invader India.

An opinion poll to determine our future would be true democracy the rest is pure Invasion.

  2. This is what colonalism is all about. Goa is a colony of India. Everything what we have to do must have a blessing from Delhi And we the tax payers have to bear these extravagant expenses. What Aires said is right that in the modern world there is no need for these trips as these things can be done by video conferencing unless ofcourse you want to kneel down in front of your Devi (Sonia) or Dr. Manmohan Singh. Don't we Goans remember how Portugal ruled Goa. Salazar ruled Goa and other colonies without visiting it even once. Mind you the communication was not good as it is today.
Another representative from Delhi on whom we have to spend lot of money is the governor of the state who does no work for Goa at all. He is the modern day Maharaja. He says that he is not the public authority. If not please go home and save us some cash. We don't need you.

  3. It is the fact that these bureacrats come on a holiday trip to Goa they do not have any responsibilities what so ever , instead, they will bring in their native people and through influence employ them or else help them in business in Goa , they are not concerned about the development of Goa and its people , it is the Goans who ultimately suffer , it it high time for us Goans to gear up to take responsibilities update ourselves or else Goa will be administered by outsiders like these buffons
