GOENCHEA OSTOREANCHO AWAS DEMANDS BAN ON DUM MARO DUM

PANJIM: Goemchea Ostoreancho Awaz (GOA), a newly formed women's organization, on Wednesday demanded a ban on the screening of Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum' in India and abroad, saying the movie not only portrays a wrong image of Goan women but also of Goa as a whole.
Addressing a press conference in Panjim on Wednesday, Swaati Kerkar and Judith Rebello said GOA will submit a memorandum to the central government explaining how the movie will give a bad name to Goan women and the state. The controversial dialogue, 'liquor in Goa is cheap and women cheaper' has stained Goa's image, the duo said. They stressed that even if the dialogue is deleted, the movie should not be released. "The objectionable part of the movie is not just the dialogue but the message the movie will send to its viewers will harm the image of Goa, especially its women," the women said.
Kerkar said films like 'Dum Maro Dum' have shown that they have no respect for Goa and its people. "This movie not only portrays a distorted image of Goa women, but also of Goa as a whole." She added that such movies only show Goa as a place for drugs and prostitution and should not be allowed to release.  "When Goa is a blend of different traditions and cultural harmony, why are we being portrayed in such a loose and immoral manner?" asked Rebello.
She lamented that the state government committee formed by the chief minister has not taken any strict action to ban the movie. "It is sad to see that our own 40-member Vidhan Sabha has no time to spare to protect the degraded image of Goa," said Rebello.  Loretta Pinto, also of GOA, said that it is because of such movies that Goan women are seen in a wrong way when they visit other states.

Not only ban the movie "Dum Maro Dum" in particular, also ban all Indian movies and other Indian programmes taking place in Goa. Also Ban Indian Film Directors and Actors from entering Goa. Do our politicians who have given permission to shoot this movie in Goa have the will to impose a Ban? How and why was this movie allowed to be shot in Goa? Action must be taken against any theatre that screens this movie.

  5. We have to ban all the present 40 Thieves from contesting again including their family members or live in partners. It is high time that Goans wake up and send these Chors to Tihar jail. We also have to educate the Crumb Eaters and Frequent Loyalty Changers (FLC)

The government Ministers of Goa is weak to fight Goan causes but never weak to siphon taxpayers money into their pockets. Hollywood and not Bollywood should make a Movie "40 Corrupt Ministers of Goa" or "40Traitors of Goa"
