MAPUSA: One Ganpat Shetye (29) from Nachinola was arrested by the Mapusa police Tuesday evening for murdering his wife Sneha. According to information provided by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Sammy Tavares, the police control van received information Tuesday evening at around 8 pm that a female was lying at Nachinola in a bruised state.
Mapusa police rushed to the scene and shifted the victim to Asilo Hospital where she was declared dead. Police discovered chest injuries on the body and some bleeding marks.
The husband of the deceased went to the Pernem police station to admit that he had killed his wife. It is learnt that the accused is originally from Pernem and was staying at Nachinola. The couple was married six years back and has children.
The accused, who was sent to Mapusa police station by the Pernem police, was charged under Section 302 for murdering his wife. The panchanama was conducted and the body was sent for post mortem. As the marriage was just six years old, Bardez SDM Mr Redkar will be inquiring into the matter.
