WHY DAYANAND BANDODKAR IS THE TRAITOR OF GOA AND GOANS by Bebdo

Dayanand Balkrishna Bandodkar is a traitor to Goa and Goans and I say this with conviction and without any remorse. Bandodkar was a person who was never loyal to Goa and Goans. His loyalty was to Maharashtra and not to his own people, the people of Goa. With his one-point agenda of merging Goa with Maharashtra, Bandodkar not only fooled the Bahujan Samaj but also divided the Goans on communal and caste lines.
Soon after the invasion of Goa by the Indian forces, Bandodkar who was a timber smuggler joined hands with other smugglers from across the border in Maharashtra and formed the Maharashtrawadi Sanghatana, which means the organisation of pro-Maharashtrawadis. This organisation ardently believed in Goa historically been a part of Maharashtra and Marathi as the mother tongue of Goans. Later this Maharashtrawadi Sanghatana was renamed as Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
The MGP was fully funded by the Congress leaders from Maharashtra, especially Y.B. Chavan and V.N. Naik. It was also funded by the RSS and the Jana Sangh. With money and man-power from Maharashtra, the MGP won the first election narrowly and Bandodkar became the first chief minister of Goa.
As soon as the MGP came to power, the leaders of Maharashtra were dancing with joy. They thought their dream of merging Goa with Maharashtra had come true and used Bandodkar to implement their agenda. Bandodkar never thought about the Goans. Yet he knew that it would be very difficult to win over the original Niz Goenkars of Goa, especially the Goan Catholics, the Goan Hindu Brahmins and the Goan Hindu businessmen. He realised that in order to achieve his goal of merging Goa with Maharashtra, he had to win over the socially, economically and educationally backward classes whom he easily moulded with money, lies and false promises. To do that he brought Maharastrians officers and bureaucrats who soon replaced the more competent Goan officers in the bureaucracy.
These Maharashtrian officers and bureaucrats brainwashed many other Goans into believing in Bandodkar’s one-point agenda of merging Goa with Maharashtra. Bandodkar opened Marathi medium schools in each and every village of Goa. In some villages more than two Marathi medium schools were opened. All the teachers (gurujis and bhaiis) were brought from Belgaum, Kholapur, Sholapur, Banda and other places of Maharashtra. Special land grants were given to them to build their houses and colonies.
The curriculum in these Marathi medium schools was borrowed from Maharashtra and even in the late 70s, the SSC examinations were conducted by the Pune Board.
In these schools, the history of Goa was totally distorted and the young Goan students from backward regions were taught about the greatness of Shivaji, Maratha culture and the importance of being a Marathi manoos. Moreover, these gurujis and bhaiis taught the students that the Christians of Goa are good for nothing and are the illegitimate children of the Portuguese. This is the reason for some Freedom Farters and RSS calling the real Goans as “Portugueseache kuttrey” (Portuguese dogs). I wonder why they are not calling Bandodkar a naikinicha mulga (son of a mistress).
Further to prove to the socially and educationally backward classes that a merger with Maharashtra would ensure them a good quality of life, he started the land reforms movement in Goa. He introduced the Tenancy and Mundkar laws and it made those who tilled the lands of the landowners happy.
These laws were introduced with two purposes in mind. 1. Bandodkar wanted to finish the educated and landowning Goan Catholics and Goan Hindus who were opposed to the idea of Goa’s merger with Maharashtra. 2. By granting tenants and mundkarial rights to the tillers of the land, Bandodkar created a vote bank for his future political goal of merger of Goa with Maharashtra.
From 1963 till 1967, Bandodkar and his team of advisers from Maharashtra inundated Goa with Maharashtrians from Belgaum, Sholapur, Kholapur and other areas in order to change the demographic and linguistic balance of Goa. These Maharastrawadis worked tirelessly all these years to impose their agenda as they were armed with money and power.
Maybe because of his low caste as he was a son of a naikin and whose father died in penury, Bandodkar must have suffered from an inferiority complex and hence wanted to wipe out the Goan ethos, culture and way of life. However, our real Goan Hindus, Christians and Muslims did not allow him to succeed in his goal of merging Goa with Maharashtra during the historic Opinion Poll.
If we analyse today all the policies that Bandodkar had formulated during his rule were based on only one agenda – that is merger of Goa with Maharashtra. It has been proved that his educational reforms of starting Marathi medium schools are a failure.
Almost all children now study in the English medium, a demand which the United Goans had made.
His land reforms, especially the Tenancy and Mundkarial law has made the poor workers who used to till the land poorer and till today they are doing the rounds of the courts. Only a handful of them have prospered and became landlords overnight. Furthermore, it killed the sustainable agricultural economy of the hinterlands of Goa and increased our reliance on vegetables from Belgaum.
So whatever Bandodkar had done during his tenure as the chief minister has been futile. He was only a mere puppet in the hands of the Maharashtrians. As such, Goans should not pay him any homage and respect.
Those who adore and worship him should make a demand with Maharashtra to install a life-size statue of Dayanand Balkrishna Bandodkar in Bombay, which is now Mumbai, and in Belgaum, Kholapur, Sholapur and Banda.
He served Maharashtra well and was loyal to Maharashtra till his death, as such Bandodkar deserves to have his statues all over Maharashtra.
As far as Goans are concerned, what better word to describe such a person who relentlessly fought to sell his Motherland Goa to Maharashtra? A traitor I would say. Indeed, A TRAITOR TO GOA AND GOANS.

  1. Let's say some day, some one will de-mount the statue of Bandorkar. I hate this guy.
Who built this man's statue anyway? I always wondered how this statue remained that long in Panjim.
All Marathi schools should be re-programmed to English medium school with compulsory subject of Konkani in Latin script and Portuguese as an optional subject.
Those who want to study Marathi, the Government should pay them for a Boarding school in Sawantwadi, not Belgau, as here they will learn kannad and make more mess as it is today.
Thank you NZ for opening our eyes, we were blind folded for 5 decades. As I mentioned it's never late to do the right thing.
If we do it right today - we may get it right, if we do it wrong today - we'll never get it right.
@ Bebdo (Are you a re-incarnation of Senhor Afonso de Albuquerque or are you blessed with the virtues of Dr. Jack de Sequeira? You are a Jewel of Goa, our fore-Fathers will be proud of you) Thank you for your time, that you put in, we'll never be able to repay you.

  2. I agree with the unsigned author that late CM Dayanand Bandodkar was a traitor. I would not blame the CM for distorting Goans on religious and caste basis. Perenially speaking the Roman Catholic Church and its Bishops preached on caste based politics, dividing Goans up the bear minmum measure up to the bone.
The Portuguese former colonizer divided Goans on Caste basis.
The Hindus from the North would not trust the Southern Catholics because they're aligned to the Portugal because of their religion. Bandodkar and the Bahujhan Samaj took the advantage of dividing Goans on communal lines and win the elections sucessfuly for 17 years.

But that was past. Our Goan identity whether you're a Hindu, Catholic or Muslim prior to 1961 was unike than rest of India. The Goans are civilized and westernized honest/kind, peace loving people,non-violent that no one can deny.

The present disintegration of our Goan identity is at risk is partly to blame ourselves and the invasion by Nehru.

We Goans with yellow bellies(coward by nature)can be easly manipulated by the Goan politicians who would like Goans vote at the time of Elections and send the corrupt politicians to power again and again. there lies our fault.

The only solution we've now call for the unity among various religious groups that existed prior to 1961.

We the Goans must organize by forming a militia armed with Fire arms, arrest all corrupt politicians, try them in the open tribunal for the treason, committting crimes against motherland Goa. Chase the indian ganthi colonizer along with the politicians out of Goa after recovering all the loot.

Remove the Indian flag, nehru, gandhi statues from our soil.

Hoist new Goan Flag white and Blue and dove with orchard at the center at each Goan Landscape.

Stand up for the revolution to drive out the indian nehru ganthis out of Goa.

  4. @Agnel

Well said, It's high time that Gandhi's and Bandorkar statue is exported to India, where it belongs, not on our soil.

We Goa should have our own Flag, our own national Anthem and our own Football team representing Goa at FIFA.

Enough is enough, the time for revolution is ripe.

  5. This is exactly what happens in goa,the traitors, criminals and the politicians get glorified. What was the reason for erecting this traitors statue in the capital and elsewhere? For all that Dr Jack Sequeira has done we goans almost ignored him. We should remove this bandodcar traitors statues and throw them across the border. Those maharastrian natives can use him as a scare crow in their fields.

  7. Bandordkar was a traitor who wanted to merge Goa with Maharashtra, There were some Catholics from Margao who were part of MGP and were awarded comiidade Rice fields in return. Besides these traitors we have the current corrupt criminal politicians who are hell bent on destroying Goa in favour of Ghanti colonies for their vote banks. We need to unite and fight for a better future.

    ReplyDelete
  8. The best way to fight against these vote banks is to buy them, or talk them in, that they have a better future with us in the future for their kins.

The statue of Bandorker and Gandhi should be sent to karmali as a farewell gift, when he will leave Goa for Maharashtra.

  9. Bandodkar paid for the curses he accumulated from people. His generation is gone to the dust. Shashikala Kakodkar never moved forward and was suspected to have killed her own brother with her hunger for power. Bandodkar was know for a temple theft before he became a politician.

Ramakant Khalap is still a hero and people forgot that he is one of the traitor of that period.

The traitors paid for their sins.

I hope the statues of traitors like Naguesh Karmali should not come up in any part of Goa. There are moves by some to erect the statue of Chorchill in Varca like the one of Mayawati in UP. People of Goa or Niz Goenkars should object tooth and nail if this move starts to take shape. Cowmuth should now make moves to erect his own statue at Moti Dongor.

The Oponion poll was the landmark victory for the people of Goa in 1967, the traitor Bandodkar and his Marathi army were deafeated , they had to bite the dust , the traitors statue deserve a garland of slippers from the people of Goa this is the only way we can honour him, to recollect the traitor had a trophy for football in his name, the Bandodkar Cup, the Goa Football Association should also resolve to rename the Nehru Stadium at Fatorda as Dr.Jack Sequeira Stadium , he being the true son of Goa and the father of Oponion Poll.Well informed article by Bebdo

My father supported MGP and swore by the Lion symbol. He is now 78 years old and he regrets his decision now..... he says that time they did not understand anything and blindly followed this chor Bandodkar. My father was also a leader of MGP and was a one term MLA.
My brothers and sisters remind him everyday what Goa would have been had Bandodkar succeeded in his plot.
Goa would have been like Malwan and there would have been no Goa left.
We are proud to be Goans and thank God for Jack Sekir for saving Goa for us.
    Bandodkar is a traitor.

  12. I do not agree with Agnelo Gomes that the Portuguese divided Goans on Caste basis. Firgis or the European whites did not beleive in Caste. They are the Goan converts who carried on with their caste even after being Christians and who gradually ascended to the corridors of power due to their new religion.Mr. Gomes there is no caste systen in Portugal. Hi Franco::: Yogesh Marathe and now Uday Bhembre, a failed ex- MLA, Writer of nonsense and an Advocate of questionable merits and a divider of Konkani scripts, are probably still trying their hardest to ressurect the Inquisition which was dead and buried over 3 Centuries ago.
They wish to keep reminding Goans born in the 20th & 21st Century about this. What for , I am not sure.
Who cares about the Inquisition anymore.Goans were at the receiving end of it...not the perpetrators of it.
The Inquisition, for sure is no longer practiced in Goa.
What Mr Marathe and Uday Bhembre fail to understand, is that Goans do not Glorify the Inquisition. They never have and never will.
What the Goans of today simply do is compare the Rule of Law & Order under the Portuguese.
Goa is become Lawless. But these 2 guys do not see it that way.It is obvious they do not read the comments or articles correctly. It is also obvious that they are very communal in their thinking.
There is no harm in admiring what was good about the Portuguese.
Portual is no longer a dictatorship. It is a modern Democratic country and still is Governed by the rule of Law, unlike what we see in Goa.
Why does Marathe and Bhembre not want us to have a harmonious relationship with modern Portugal?
Perhaps they will answer this in their own crazy style and ideologies.

  19. Finally we can speak freely and speak the truth! He was a traitor to the Goan people! Face your back to the statue, if you ever pass it by. Someday we will be able to tear it down like they did in so many countries, which had dictators! The man was a S.O.B. and we should teach our Goan youth what a traitor he is! If it wasn’t for Dr Jack Sequeira and the other fighters of Goa, we Goans would have been finished. Today, we have OUR Goa, because of them. That’s why we must fight now! We must do it for Dr Sequeira and all those who gave their blood for OUR Goa! Thanks to Bebdo and the nizgoenkars we can write our history truthfully. Why should be afraid of the RSS sympathies! The holocaust occurred because people did not speak up! I hope I am alive to see that statue torn down! As Remo Fernandes has so correctly said, “Goa has had and continues to have leaders, that are like parents, that molest and rape their own children!”

    To Franco::::
As everyone knows,India throughout its history, was invaded by several different Empires.
I wonder what "smarty pants" Yogesh Marathe and "Nutty Professor, Uday Bhembre, have to say about the Invasions of the Muslims /Arabs of India, which also reached Goa.
These 2 idiots Marathe & Bhembre, only seem to write about the Portuguese.I wonder why?
If Islam originated in the Middle East, how come it arrived in India?.I can assure everyone it did not arrive on the NRP SAGRES.
With the arrival of Islam in India, many Hindus underwent conversion, including those in Goa.
Why does Marathe and Bhembre omit this .
It is simple. They are shit scared, as they fear there will be a "FATWA" issued on them and thereafter a "JIHAD" will be put in motion.
I also wonder if that mad man Naguesh Karmali and his freeloading gangsters, will purify parts of Goa that were occupied by Muslims.?
I do not expect, MARATHE OR BHAMBRE OR KARMALI will ever answer this.
It must be noted that in the latter part of the Portuguese rule /presence in Goa...Hindus,Christians and Muslime all lived in harmony....and may they long continue to do so.

  26. The preposterousness of this article and opinions expressed here can only be the misinformation of most likely everyone on this thread who also falsely believe themselves to be Portuguese. Newsflash, you aren't Portuguese, you have no ties to Portugal, and worse yet, most people from Goa that i have encountered do not even know their correct European History. So please continue to celebrate the fact that 3 generations ago, when the Portuguese came and violently converted Indians into Catholics at an alarming rate, lest they be killed the reality is that most of the opinions expressed here are sheerly ignorance.

I am sure if you lived in the time when Vasco de Game, a noted pirate who bombed the placed he landed, raped and pillaged the people he encountered, you would have a completely different view of Portugal and the inquisition. Being a 3rd or 4th generation removed descendant, now affords you the luxury to praise a country like Portugal which was one of the worst so called "colonizing" nations at European dominance!

Also, consider one important fact, Goa is aa part of India, and when the Portuguese left, they did so willingly. If such is the case that they were so adamant in their conviction of not losing Goa why did they leave?

The Goa I know, just like the India I know is a divergent melting pot of mixed faiths, going back in history to BC when caravans and travelers from as far West as Greece traded with the Ancient Indians, and India was a cultural hub of the Orient but I digress lest any of this information would be too much knowledge for people on this forum to comprehend.

The facts are the facts, if Dayanand Bandodkar was so bad for Goa, how come he was re-elected three successive times? Do you mean to tell me that the good people of Goa, both Hindus and Catholics were so confused or blinded come election time that they just didn't bother to vote for somebody else? Also, if Dr. Jack Sequeria was so great, how come hee was never elected Chief Minister?

Its almost too unfortunate that people like the people on this thread could have such opinions, but thankfully they are in the minority, and quite frankly this is your only contribution. Such is the case with history, many jealous people who have accomplished nothing in their lives can only stand by and cast stones like evidenced in this forum. I only happen to stumble by this forum and provide whatever iss my two cents on the subject, but sadly history is such that there were very few great leaders in history and many people who have nothing better to do than to cast stones at their legacy. Because if they had something better to do with their lives, the would put forth the energy to making a difference instead of complaining about the way things are.

One last thing to consider, the next time, if you are Goan (whether Catholic or Hindu), when the Portuguese ruled Goa, only the Portuguese held claim over the land they owned, they prevented any local Indians any land ownership. One of the greatest achievements of Dayanand Bandodkar is to return land ownership back to the local Goans.

Of course, if you cannot comprehend such a simple concept, then Goa is NOT the place for you, go to Portugal and claim your Portuguese lineage, I am fairly certain you will be taken seriously, right?

To GoaPride::: I get the distinct impression that your are "BRAIN DAMAGED".You also must suffer from some other forms of mental dysfunction.
I am not sure which "Indian Comic Book", you have got your facts from. But for sure you must be a disciple of Yoghesh Marathe and Uday Bhembre.
    1. The Portuguese ruled for 5 Centuries...not 3 generations.
2.All Goans , Christians ,Hindus and Muslims, all over the world including all other Nationalities are fully aware of Goa`s Historical ties with Portugal.
    3. You need to differentiate between Vasco Da Gama and Alfphonso de Albuquerque.
4.You might want to try speaking to Adil Ismail Shah, telepathically to see if he will be able to explain the history of 1510 A.D.
    5. You might wish to consult Indian History books on how the Hindus and Muslims fought battles to Colonise parts of India.
6.Portugal did not leave Goa willingly. Here again you need to se the UN documents to educate yourself, rather then spit out crazy juvenile rubbish.
    7. India migt have been a major country in Centuries gone by,but it certainly was not one single country. It was ruled by Kings,Queens, Princes and Sultans.
8.Bandokar was re-elected 3 times, as he ,like the current bunch of corrupt misfits have used money power and Maharastrian goondas, to get elected. The Maharastrians wanted Goa badly ,because of mining interests.
9.Many Goans reading your rubbish, as a comment, willl easily conclude, your 2 cents is a load of "crap" or "Historical SHIT" and a distortion of facts. If your brains have been turned upside down due to an accident, I suggest you consult a Brain Surgeon to correct its position, as it was when you were born.
10.The Goan legacy is 500 years of Portuguese rule.Come back in another 500 hundred years and we will discuss about throwing stones at the dis-jointed and fragmented Indian Legacy.
11.The Portuguese gave land to Goans , both Hindus and Christians. This land was called "COMMUNIDADES".
    12. Many Goans owned Land In Goa during Portuguese Rule, and ,do so, till this day.Your "comical" and distorted idea that all land was "only" owned by the Portuguese is incorrrect. All Bandodkar did was enact the Mundcar act allowing Tenants to purchase the land where their Houses stood. My Grandfather had 3 Tenants looking after his Land. The Land on which Mundcars had their Houses built, has now been sold (Govt RATES) to them and they are "Freeholders" of this Land.
    13. Finally as I doubt, your are the type to get educated with the truth or facts easily,You might want to ask your Indian brethren, who have settled abroad too, about claiming British Lineage.

I would recomend that you go back to school and get a proper education. Some of your ideas and phrases in this comment, seems to have been fed to you by your brainwashing Master.
Good Luck and God speed with re-educating your historical perspective.

  29. Well said N Fernandes!!!! I wish you could debate these fools; they want to prove that we should be 'Indian'. We are Goans! Ask the Bangladeshis if they would like to be part of India as they were part of the ‘Indian subcontinent’. You will get a resounding 'Never'. Yet we have a much more unique culture and yet we are being forced by your ideology to be 'Indian'. In Africa, the British knew exactly who were Indian and who were Goan. They never hired Indians. They found them to be corrupt to the core. This is the case all over the world, everyway Indians go they are hated. You all prefer to spit your pan all over and sh_t all over the place. You all have DESTROYED OUR Goa! The destruction India has done in less than 50 years not even the Portuguese could do in 5 Centuries! We need to be liberated from you Ghantis....You all are revising our history to suite your INVASION of OUR Goa. Get the hell out of our Goa!!! We don’t want you all. Get it! I wish we could kick you all out once and for all! You all do not respect our land, pilling up garbage just like you all do in filthy Mumbai and Delhi! Please read the blogs on the internet of people who were ‘born’ in Delhi who want to ‘escape’ as they can't stand the filth, cheating, robbing, burglaries and murdering in Delhi everyday. Now you all come to our Goa and even rob our temples and churches. Never before had we had to shut the door to our religious places. Now we have to hire security guards. And you want to tell us things are better now? Any society that does not peace in the one place they should feel secure, is a ‘sick’ society. Bandodkar was a Traitor to the Goan people, we need to call him for what he was. We would not have a place called Goa today if that bast_rd had his way. Yes he got elected because of the dirty filthy system you call 'democracy' in India. I curse you all for destroying OUR Goa and Indianizing our people. Your arguments don't fool us. Get your facts right before you comment - Idiot! . Please refrain from using Goa in your title GoaPride. It is offensive to us. You know nothing about us or our heritage please stop thinking that you do. You will never get what is means to Goan. You have to born Goan - sorry we don’t accept outsiders like you!…………..To all, the longer we stay under India OCCUPATION, the longer we have these Indians staking a claim over OUR beautiful Goa.

  30. Goa Pride, I do not wish to answer to every of your sentence as there is no answer to foolishness and stupidity. N. fernandes and Trevor wrote enough. Let me add that the Great Dr. Jack De Sequeira never said that he wanted to become a Chief Minister or minister either. He comletely served mankind, Goa and the interest of Goans. The present set of generation of politicians including Dayanand Bandodkar had a history of temple looting, murders and goondaism Dr Jack was a straight forward man, straight in his dealings and not a back stabber. Hi Trevor::: Well said too.
This GOAPRIDE "numpty", is none other than a Disciple of Yogesh Marathe or Yogesh Marathe himself as he uses similar written English. It is rather strange how re-incarnations take place in comments here on Niz Goenkar.
This "AMOEBA", now calling him self GOAPRIDE now, seems to demonsrates a lack of historical perspective and facts.
He ought to know that within his Version of India, there are many States seeking to breakaway from the Indian Union.
He might need a clue.So I refer him to Kashmir,Assam,Punjab (Khalistan) and many others. What about a State within a STATE ,in Andhra Pradesh.
I guess this GOAPRIDE "numpty", has no access to Television. The hottest topics on Indian News Channels at present is the Mega Corruption taking place in his India.Bandodkar was no different during his reign of Goa.
How come he has not complained about the British Raj in India. The British managed to conquer India as there were several internal wars going on between different Indian Rulers.
He may wish to call India a Country. But he should remember India is none other than a Union or Federation of different States. Each State has its own unique language and customs.
Goa is also unique. It has a diversity of its own languages and customs.Hindus , Muslims and Christians all live in harmony.
He should remember Bandodkar wanted to sell and merge Goa with Maharastra. The opinion poll decided against this.
A lot of the Portuguese Legacy and British too are still alive and flourishing in India.
However GOAPRIDE must be blind to these facts and chooses to impress us with his pedantic rubbish.
As far as I am personally concerned..the best place for this Numpty and "ignoramus" calling him self GoaPride is the open Indian Dustbin.

  33. Trevor, N Fernandes and Dalia this lunatic GoaPride is another version of Yogesh Marathe and his types. This idiot does not know why Dr. Jack fell for the elections. Even though I am a hindu let me tell you that Bandodkar and his party played a very dirty game during that election when it was hundred percent sure that UG would win and Dr. Jack would be the chief minister, which the traitor and filthy animan Bandodkar did not want. So they broke down the TULSI of the hindus (done by hindu supporters of marathwadda's) and pushed the blame on the christians that time. Hence there was a change in the attitude of hindus of Goa who failed to see the deception as the culprits were not caught. Otherwise even the hindus wanted UG and Dr. Jack to be the chief minister as they were fed up of Bandodkar's pro marathi and pro maharashtra campaign. Hope this lunatic GoaPride understands the real history

Who is this new madman called GoaPride on the site? I think he should be banished to dukorwaddi where he can eat all the sh......t like the pigs of the indians. A....h....le is trying to teach us history of Goa when he does not know anything about it himself. He must have been the arse cleaner of Bandodkar otherwise he would not talk all that rot in favour of Bandodkar.

  35. @ GoaPride????????????????????????????????

It's for sure you went to Marathi School, which was a Fabric to Brain wash Goans by Traitor Bandorkar.

Can't blame you brother, but TIME and NG will change you.

Goa was never a Part of india, Goa became a part of india through invasion, my great grand parents owned land, (there were Mundkars who lived for free in the Badkar's property for years in harmony before Illiterate Indians invaded Goa.)

If I would own a building and have tenants, which part of the world does the buildings belong to the tenants.

Goa will be Independent, all Indians living in Goa will have to register as foreigners in Goa with no voting rights.

You can hide and manipulate the truth, it's possible as proved by Traitor Bandorkar and the Indian Invaders.

    To Pedro Lopes:::
For sure, this Goapride idiot went to a Marathi School.
I will tell you why.He does not know the difference between "Generation" and "Century".
His Marathi History told him that all the Land in Goa was owned by the Portuguese.
His reading skills are probably very poor, as he has not heard about the Mundkar Rights Act.
He states that Portugal left "willingly".So again, you see, his Marathi education did not give him the facts.
This phrase.....{ "Its almost too unfortunate that people like the people on this thread could have such opinions, but thankfully they are in the minority, and quite frankly this is your only contribution}...is an exact phrase of Yogesh Marathe. So you see how the devil now works, here.

  38. Goan history is manipulated, but here we are at fault, we kept quite or we left the Ghantties to take over our beautiful land.

As long as Congress and BJP are around we will never be a Goa as it once was. There is a very strong powerful vote bank at their disposal.

I'm sure GOA will be independent, thanks to NG many like me are aware that India and Indian are crook, where ever they go they take corruption with them. Gandhi was the biggest crook, he was punished only by one bullet although he is the reason for Millions of deaths in India. Pakistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and we Goans are suffering due to his ignorance and stupidity. If Gandhi was alive today he would invite the Britisher's to rule and administer India again.

  39. Wow, I cannot believe the sheer ignorance of these posts. Its a typical perspective of many Indians to criticize, complain about everything but really that is what most people do, criticize and complain and then throw around their intellect as if they are trying to prove that they are literate historians.

Okay smart people if you think you have figured everything out, why is Goa one of the most corrupt states now in all of India?

Why do people continue to re-elect politicians and ex-chief ministers for successive terms who have been guilt of embezzlement and other crimes against the people. What responsibility do you take to change things in Goa except complain and banter about who knows more about Goan history?

In the meantime, Goa has continued to be a corruption based state that was so much better off under Portguese rule right? It was so much better? And of course history isn't written by those who won the wars, and conquered other people right its written by people like you correct?

But what's the point ARGUING anything? If the people on this thread are so smart and have so many answers WHERE are they? You want to know what is typical? This is typical. A group of people who have nothing better to do than criticize and complain about things and really do nothing more than try to prove that "states" of India are succeeding or "what about the British rule in India" and heaven forbid "500 years of Goan Legacy is Portuguese legacy"

Should I resort to classless, baseless name-calling like many of you do to a nameless and face-less entity lest you have the rest of this thread to cheer each other up about complaints you have about Goa and how "right" you are. Go ahead, knock yourself out. There is no point arguing with ignorance.

Maybe one day you will figure it out and instead of debating and arguing about how "right" you are, you may in fact take action to make a difference, but most probably not.
