ALL ABOUT SATARI…..CONCERN AND AWAKE by Abdulla Khan, Valpoi

Valpoi which is located to the north of Goa falls under the jurisdiction of the Satari Taluka. Broadly divided into four small hamlets namely Valpoi town, Nanus, Massordem and Veluz, it is positioned 52 Kms from state capital which may sound distant, but worth the tiring journey as you discover the fast developing Valpoi passing from deep jungles of Reddeghat. For those who visited the place long back, Valpoi will represents the picture of a typical sleepy, dull, ‘yet to come of age’ village in their mind’s eye.
However, they are wrong and will be in a big surprise by looking the face lift of the place within past three years. Hectic development is noted in every corner of Valpoi town which consists of 10 municipal wards. Valpoi today has not only equipped itself with the basic necessities but has gone a step further. Very soon it will be added up among the more advanced and happening town of Goa when the whole beautification project get completed.
From last three years Valpoi has begun to receive government attention which is an achievement in itself. One cannot undermine the role of the local MLA and Health minister of Goa, Mr. Vishwajeet Rane for the present Valpoi. It is evidently true as the town has an impressive infrastructure in medical sector standing in the heart of the town. The hospital project which is a dream comes true for each and every resident not only from Valpoi but all over Satari. Small serpentine road full of potholes and diversion are now widened and hot mix in every corner of the town.
The main road elaborates the drastic development undertaken in the town. New bus stand project which is yet to set up very soon is claimed to be one of the finest infrastructure in Goa. These will not solve the problem of absence of bus stand but will smooth the traffic congestion witness by Valpoikars in the peak hours. Dabos Bridge which is superbly architectural designed on the Velus river connecting Dabos village to the town is eye catching one. It is interesting to note that Valpoi is developing pretty fast in the entire field as very soon the town will have a mini stadium at Hathwaddo the work which is underway for the sports enthusiast. Although, the old municipality GYM is renovated there will one additional full fledged gymnasium in the town. A new market complex has been designed which will be erected near the town bridge as per information from municipal sources. There will be a mega garbage treatment plant to solve the garbage problems within few days the file work is underway disclosed the sources. To facilitate the existing old traders the town will have a renovated market complex on the existing plinth which is at present undergoing a tribunal and result will be soon declared in positive as expected by the town authorities.
Regardless of speeding on the progressive track, Valpoi has not lost any of its original charm except cutting of few trees. It still abounds with flora and fauna; small water bodies along with rivers Madhai and the Massordem ZOR (spring) with their clear waters make a pretty picture and are ideal for calming your frenzied nerves by dipping into the water. To succumb to the willful charms of this commercially viable, yet traditionally and aesthetically beginning town called Valpoi, one definitely should take a trip down to the place itself after the whole development work gets completed to witness a sudden developmental transformation.
APART from these dark clouds of mining lobby are about to spread on Satari. Sources informed that mining monsters are eagerly interested to establish their activity in this green belt. Having strong political backup these monsters will very soon destroy Sonal, Savordem, Nagargao etc. activist and ex-MLA son Mr Vishwesh Prabhu along with others is leading a movement called Satari Jagruk Yuva Morcha against these mining agents. Presently he had started a small movement but slowly this movement will take a revolt and he had appeal for every Goan and Satarkar to join the same and raised their voice to save our Satari. Let’s see whether any political power will engulf this movement or unity for preserving greenery will survive……….

  1. I thing your previous MLA Haldankar of BJP has done nothing for the Valpoicars. From what I have heard it is Vishwajeet Rane who is doing a good work for his consitituency. At least something.
