GOA DAY CANCELLED: SADDEST DAY FOR ALL GOANS IN SWINDON AND ELSEWHERE IN UK.

SWINDON: This is a day that brings all the Goans together in their thousands as they visit the venue where the famous Swindon Goa day is celebrated, with grandeur and pomp. Goans from other European countries, especially from Paris (France), Portugal etc come all the way to have fun that day in Swindon.
GSA President Jacinto explaining Goans why Goa Day was
Cancelled
But this year is a very sad day as the Goa day was cancelled by the Swindon Borough Council with a last minute notice to the committee members of GSA who were the organisers of the event.
But the main reason for the cancellation of the event is one single email from a fellow Goan who recently had declared himself as the leader of Goan Community in Swindon, in which it is claimed that he is the legal authority of the GSA with a request to the Swindon Borough Council to stop the event as he had not given any permission to the current organisers to organise the event.
The man is none other than Mr. Santana Souza, a native of Goa Velha in Goa, who by force is trying to hold on to the reins of GSA. The current committee which was lawfully elected in October 2010 consists of President: Mr. Jacinto Sousa, Vice President: Ms Sheela D’Costa, Chairman: Mr Anthony Fernandes, General Secretary: Mr Hilario Do Rego and Treasurer: Mr. Nascito Francisco Fernandes.
Mr Abel Nunes clarifiying his stand to the Goans
over his name featuring in the email of Santana
However inspite of the new committee in active role, Mr Santana claims that he and his ex-co-committee members are the legal Committee and not the current committee.
According to the current president of GSA Mr Jacinto who spoke to Niz Goenkar, Mr. Santana is not ready to step down even as he has been asked by the members. He continues to defy the new committee and that is what he showed by creating a rift among the Goans and causing the cancellation of the yearly Goa Day.
Mr Jacinto further stated that they had initiated the legal procedures for the event and obtained the necessary licence from the Borough Council of Swindon. On 6th June 2011, the Borough Council had issued a licence to the committee consisting of Mr. Jacinto and others mentioned above. Preparations for the event were in full swing. Stalls were allotted to the Goans who setup food items etc every year. Those who had booked the stalls prepared themselves spending lot of money to get the items ready for the event.
On 13th of July the Borough Council summoned Mr. Jacinto and his co-committee members for discussions about the event and to ensure that the rules and regulations have been followed.
GSA Vice President Ms Sheila D'Costa next to her the child
artist Chloe in purple.
On 14th they were again summoned for a chat with the fire security officer and were given the safety details list. They were briefed about the noise pollution etc.
However on 15th i.e. just one day before the all set event, the council called them in again and told them that the event has to be cancelled as all the procedures were not done in accordance with the rules and regulations, they were asked to sign the event cancellation letter. All the pleadings went deaf.
However the Borough Council asked them to organise the event at a later date about four weeks from now. They also promised to help them do the legal procedures and to provide them a fresh licence.
Goans gathered to find a solution
This morning Mr. Jacinto received a letter by post which turned to be a copy of an email by Mr. Santana Souza , addressed to Mr. James Holland stating that he is the authority of the GSA along with Mr. Abel Nunes, Floriano D’SA and Mr. Miguel da Cunha. At the ending part of the email Mr. Santana has mentioned ‘As the president of GSA I DON’T AUTHORISE the event to go ahead on the 16th July without them completing ALL THE FOMALITIES.’ (FOMALITIES is as spelled in the email) This email brought to light that Mr. Santana was instrumental in the great event being cancelled.
The organisers and the stall takers are the ones that suffered the greater loss at the cost of this selfish man Santana Souza said one Goan in the crowd, at the County Ground where Goans gathered today to find a solution and the cause behind the cancellation of the Goa day.
Niz Goenkar interviewed Mr. Abel Nunes the ex-Secretary of the so called committee run by Mr. Santana, who had this to say:
NG: What do you say on this Mr Abel
ABEL: I have no objection for the Goa day whatsoever and I have done nothing to stop the event.
NG: Mr. Abel, your name features on this email, whereby it shows that you are involved in the cancellation of the Goa day. Is that correct?
ABEL: No I do not know anything about the email and I am not involved in this at all.
NG: Then how come your name features on the email by Santana? Can you shed some light on it?
ABEL: This has been done without my permission. I was not even consulted on this by Santana.
NG: So you say that this is done without your knowledge?
ABEL: Absolutely I am not aware of any such thing. Mr. Santana has not even consulted me.
NG: Who do you think that your name appearing on the email of Santan?
ABEL: I was very very angry as I have nothing to do with it.  I did not even know about this.
NG: Thank you Mr. Abel.
We interviewed two little children of age 6 and 8 about the cancellation of Goa day. Little Miss Chloe and Little Master Valanko the two little children who had practiced hard some dances to be performed were totally dejected and heartbroken. When asked by NG how she felt about the cancellation of Goa day, Chloe said that she was upset. We felt that she was gloomy with sadness. She said that she had practiced a lot and was to perform some dances with Valanko. NG then asked master Valanko his feelings; he said he is very sad that he could not perform due to the sudden suspension of the event. We felt the boy too was very gloomy. All this was caused by just one person who tried to and tries to portray himself as the leader of the Goans when he is not.
Below is the copy of the email of Santana which was received through post by the president of GSA Mr. Jacinto Sousa.
A meeting has been called of all the Goans in Swindon on 23rd July 2011, Saturday at 11 AM to deal with the problem and to have a fresh go for organising the GOA DAY at a later day.

Reading the email from Santana Sousa, he sounds like an un-educated & low life  "numpty".
Cancelling a major event in such a way , at the last moment, will not go down well with sponsors and contributors.

With 2 factions within the same Commitee, it will be better if one faction does the decent and honourable thing and forms a completely new Association with a new name.
Sometimes, having 2 separate Associations is good, as it promotes competition and the public become the beneficiaries. In the end the people will decide which Association serves them the best.

As for Santana Sousa, he should stop claiming to be the President and spokesperson for Goans....whether in Swindon or elsewhwere.
I think he recently also got involved in the Edino Carvalho murder saga, where his service were not asked for or required.
All I can do is to empatise with all the Goans and well-wishers who were looking forward to this day.
The will need to work out who stole their enjoyment.!!!...and there will be only one answer.....Santana Sousa.

If this is what a President of Swindon Goans looks like, and with the level of his education demonstrated in his email to Swindon Council...I would question his Authority and prefer MICKEY MOUSE (not theBetalbatim  Pacheco) or DONALD DUCK to be my President.

  4. Most of the Goans working in Swindon are of illeterate class. They do not have any respect for fellow Goans other than the pounds they earn.  Santano Sousa is one of them, a man of thousand faces. Santano swindled money from Goa Velha Sports club before coming to Swindon . He is a first class gambler and owes lots of money to his friends. He wants to lead a double life like our corrupt politicians .The Goans in Swindon is a disgrace to Goan diaspora. Goans  have settled all over the world and have a great respect from the local communities. The Goans in Swindon should come out with the  concrete solution and this should not continue in future as it spoils the Goa's  image.

  5. Gambler, cheat, opportunist, he did not even spare a poor soul who was brutally murdered in Swindon to promote his personal agenda,Ask anyone in Swindon, he owes money to scores of hard working Goans in Swindon. He has curses of all these families whose children are suffering because he borrows money giving excuses but never bother to pay back.Very sad for us Goans in Swindon,Santan have only divided
Goans here.Only people from Goa Velha support Santan, our friend Jacinto is supported by all Goans. We will have Goa day in Swindon and give a fitting reply to Santan's cheap politics. His name suggest he is satan and will burn in hell.

Some of our recent Goan generation have a major problem, Make then a leader of an association and they think it only right to follow examples of Goa's corrupt politicians. Somebody should dig into this Santana's shady background in Goa with proof and deport him back to Goa. It is only an ignorant GOAN fool that would spoil an event of this proportion, where young children have rehearsed for the day. Goans have been residing outside Goa in foreign countries for over a century and lived in unity and respect. In recent years SOME of the Goans have moved abroad with  their ignorant  attitude, that is because of being under the Indian Rule.

  7. Santana De Souza is one of the un-educated idiots, who is spoiling the name of other Goans.

Goa Day was supposed to be the one day which would allow us Goans to put aside our differences, this was more important with the recent events which had caused us to be seen in a bad light.
Even if there was another association dedicated to Goans, that does not give them the right to ruin the other's chances of having an event. In fact it would be healthy to have a little competition & would have showed that we can work together even if we were on different sides. I guess what Santana & his committee just ruined that opportunity.

This Satan is such a fotkiro....i attended the Goa day last year....and it was going on quite ok... until when this low class person went and asked the security to put two people out of the function as they were apperently come to creat fights but this was not true at all... shuch a shameless person he really needs to go back to school and learn his english... i think all the people who were supposed to put up stalls and have incured losses should make Santan pay for it.... but the thing that upsets me is how come the council took such a step without conducting proper investigation as in who has sent the mail... i think they should have contacted the relevent person before taking such steps, the council and this 3rd class Santan should pay for all the losses....

"SANTAN YOU ARE SUCH A LOW AND 3RD CLASS GOAN... I THINK CALLING YOU A GOAN IS SO SHAMEFUL...YOU USELESS PERSON....IF I EVER MEET YOU ON THE ROAD PLEASE DONT BE SUPRISED IF I SPIT ON YOUR FACE... LEAVE THE GSA ALONE YOU USELESS PERSON ATLEAST THEY DON'T ROBE THE COMMITIES MONEY LIKE YOU ...YOU CHOR."

  11. Santano Sousa must be thinking that he is the president of USA and not GSA as most of the Goans in swindon think  they are in Sweden. The same thing is with our illeterate minister who thinks that his brother is Joking and not Joaquim. what  a MORON.

  14. It is indeed a shame for all Goans everywhere especially in Swindon to be represented  a self proclaimed leader who is half literate. How could he read or understand the constitution of GSA which he proclaims to have done. We all know about the crab mentality of Goans but this person is taking it to new heights. I am surprised that this so called person who leaves on borrowed money ( as per Goencho Mogi) should be so bold as to hold Goans in Swindon to ransom by his selfish actions. A BIG Shame to people who are supporting him to do such things.

i feel angry and upset knowing that many had taken trouble to practice and rehearse for the upcoming goa day ,lets not forget about the advances paid to book the facilities etc for the event and also the stall owners who bought the groceries the day before the goa day and all this ruined because of one person Santan dsouza, i hope he and his wife will suffer for this as it is he is already suffering because there are friends telling me he is borrowing money to pay even his mortgagen .He is shameless. Most of the time i notice him in front of or inside the betting shops. He is a loser. His wife should  cancel all marital ties with him.The meeting on 23/07/2011 is a good timing ,all goans should attend and be united and teach him a lesson.i thing i am certain and confidant this man Santan Dsouza will never be sucessfull  in the uk. Never ever, because if he were to be  he would have been 15 years ago when he set foot in the uk. Even today he is still a RINKARI.

  18. As seen in the letter Santana emailed to the Council Mr. Floriano Dsa (mouni) has backed Santana to stop Goa day from happening, its a shame that some of the people who I work with and who are well educated has entered into this unknown group of santana who tries to help him claim that he is the president of GSA when when his not. According to me all Goans should do something about it, thinking of the loss he has done in the last two years of his president ship and now the loss that has happened to the Goans involved in different activity for the Goa day. This is serious and should be brought to an end of santana souza. And he should also not be involved in any of the Goan activities that happen in Swindon or else where.

  19. This man still owes lots of money to people. one of his relative is still paying the loan he had taken out to set up a restaurant in partnership with santan ( santan gambled away the money, so i am old). I feel sorry for his wife and 2 kids as they have too suffer due to his gimmicks. Going by the letter, it should have had a bit more mistakes given his command of the language. So i have my doubts if he compiled the email. Mogi BTW i enquired with a quite a few people from Goa Velha in swindon about their support for santan. For your info, he owes money or has owed money in the past to most people from Goa Velha who are in swindon. So i dont think all people from goa velha support him. But i am sure some do and i suspect these are the ones who gamble with him.
Goans in swindon were a divided lot and will be so for some time. you might see superficial unity, but there are deep and underlying issues which need to be addressed before there is real unity.

But u r addiction to gambling to make fast money is this roulette n betting shop will not give u any return. Instead u must practice the godgogdo (dice) which u were very popular in goa during u r poverty days in goa. Only if u switch u r gambling tricks to godgodo u may repay some money that u borrowed. U r such a disgraced to our community in swindon. U should be publicly ashmed for u r deeds.

  21. The best person to shed light on his background in goa will be Abel. He is well aware of his antics in Goa-Velha. santan is a portuguese national, so unless you can convince the
european human rights bandwagon, consider deporting him a distant dream. Also there
is no evidence that indian rule is cause of ignorant attitude. I have
seen some african goans also with a lot of attitude.Other nationalities also have a similar problem of some magnitude atleast. But that i feel it is a
    human tendency.
The tug of war of associations in swindon arises from local goan politics and control of swindon borough council grants ( santans target). Probably The NG person in swindon can shed some more light on this.

My recomendation to each and every Goan in Swindon, that have had money borrowed from them, from Santana Sousa, is to sue him in a County Court or SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

The claim can be registered on-line and is not expensive or incur much expenditure.
It is the cheapest form of re-dressal for a grievance.
From what I am reading here it seems like Santan Sousa is a gambling addict and this could be good "Circumstantial evidence".

The claim in a County can also be done by a group of people that have had money borrowed and not repaid.
Evidence can all be produced in a form of  Cheques, signed I,O.U.`s,ATM receipts.

Additionally Santan could be sued for Tax Evasion.

As President, he will be liable, to be held accountable& responsible  for any unpaid Tax .

I guess & assume, the Goan Swindon Association has "not been registered as a Charitable organisation".If so , Santan could be in trouble. with the Tax Ofice. It will be treated as a Private enterprise.

Accounts of the Goan Swindon Association should be open for Public Inspection or by its members.

I have to assume, a lot of it has been gambled away at the betting shop.

    Best of luck

If few guys gather together and select a leader They dont represent all Goans or become GSA.  In these process all Goans must be taken into consideration and made sure that all Goans are informed and then Voting done to get a clear leader.
These TWO groups are the same without the support of all Goans therefore This is the Outcome.

  53. observer the same is true for people of other regions of goa who are in swindon. I agree with your solution of rising up, but forming a group of like minded people isn't the solution. To have a flow of ideas and generate solutions there should people who have differing opinions as well. Like minded people are bound to say yes to every solution or idea proposed. Setting up a new agenda will not change or solve old problems. The problem has been identified so its time to tackle it. The letter mentions names of officers from the council. Couple of questions arise from the letter, If jacinto is the president, how come these officers were present as observers for an election with santan in it ( assuming the email in right). Abel should have been queried on this as the email claims he was also present. A simple way out is to contact the council and verify this.Next, invite both the parties and thrash out a solution in presence of council officials. There needs to be just one association with one committee for the unity of goans, with a proper constitution and code of conduct.

Please do not put such a tag on most the hard working Swindon Goans because of these rogue individuals. Most of them are working hard for their money, you may call them greedy but calling them disgrace on Goan diaspora is bit harsh. Then again first settlers of Swindon came in 2000,I agree most them were not well educated, that's the main reason for them to leave Goa.How can we expect them to change into lawyers, doctors in 10 yrs?The same goes to Goans who went to Africa in early part of last century there were people from good bamon families as well as people from fishing community who settled in Kenya,Tanzania, Mozambique etc.I know some of them did fishing in Africa as well. The Goans we see in cities like London/Leicester and other places are children of these bamon as well as of pescador families who went through these phases.Give children of these illiterate Goans (as you call them) to shine and prosper same as the children of Arican Goans did. After all we all are decendants of apes including you and me,we call ourselves humans today.

  59. The fact that Abel has said that he was in France shows he is a liar. I have seen him on that very day; on which we all found out that Goa Day was not going to happen. He was also having a party at his house; what was he celebrating? We weren't sure . However after we had found out he was part of these events it shows what Abel's true colours are.

It was really a sad day for the Goans in Swindon with the Goa Day being cancelled, as we were all looking forward to this annual event, to meet and greet other fellow Goenkars, have fun and make merry.

This act only goes to show the greed and selfishness of one person & his own partners including Mr Abel Nunes (a teacher in Swindon), who only thought of their own gain, and not of the community. Santan needs to know that he has not earned any accolades by trying to politicise this act, but has only gained the curses of all Goans living in Swindon for robbing them of the Goa Day. We can only begin to imagine what goes on under tables and the poor & selfish decision making of such ex-'Presidents'.

My question is - How could the council accept a letter from a person not affliated to the current GSA 2011?? How come such regulations and rules were brought up last minute?? The Council should be sued as they were fully aware of this, and played with the money invested by Goans. I'm am sure that the Swindon Council were hand in glove with Mr Santan and there was something 'Under the table' given to Council officials to stop this event from taking place. Why stop the GSA from organising this event 48 hours before, when they have been doing this for years and no objections were brought up before.?
Something sounds fishy, and I think the current GSA members should all question the Swindon Borough Council regarding this.

Another point I wish to make is - Mr Abel Nunes says that he was not aware of this email. How can this be possible?? He is secretary of this so called 'Committee' and he was not aware that Santan emailed this to the Council??

Jacinto Souza deserves a pat on his back for all that he has tried to do with the other members of GSA. He has been running around since the Council notified him of this, trying his best to sort out the problem that Santan created out of jealousy and did not give up till the last minute. His undying effort must be recognised and the selfless act of his love for Goans here must be praised. We are with you Jacinto! All the way.

I only wish to clarify one thing - You can't blame all the Goans as being a disgrace. Just because one fruit from the tree is rotten, you can't chop off the entire tree can you? There are many decent Goans here, who are hardworking, honest and trustworthy. We are lucky to know many of such degree. Please do not assume that all Goans who live in Swindon are a disgrace to Goan Diaspora, because I can assure you it is not the case, well with a few exceptions of Santan and a handful.

This a lesson that the Swindon Goans must never forget. Keep your distance from the Gambler Santana and do not let him any money instead demand all that is owed to you Goans. If hew has a family how can his family face other Goan families around them? Hope you can have a Goa Day soon for the sake of your families and the little children that take part in it.

No matter which part of Goa we come from we always have A dictator among Goan Catholics. Divisions are very common among us in Goa and abroad. Physical altercation too is very common between two groups. So lets not stereotype Goa Velha Goans. I have many of my universality  friends who live there.

  69. Thanks to NIZ GOENKAR for the coverage, if not this site, no one in the world would have known these rascals called Santan & Co. The last time Swindon was famous for the wrong reasons of crimes committed by EDINO, this time again, it is famous for the wrong reasons, for the acts of criminal Santan and gang. Unfortunately, all these criminals are from GOA VELHA. What a shame for the people of Goa Velha. I myself being from the neighboring village heard enough about this story which is HOT NEWS for the locals of Goa Velha, Siridao and Agassaim. However, the criminals must be filtered out, reported to police and the names published on Niz Goenkar.
Kudos to Niz Goenkar and its team in UK for bringing the facts to light and publishing the full story. The copy of email of Santan itself is a disgrace. It is high time that Santan goes back to Goa Velha and start his usual business of sitting near the Tinto. The good day of merry making for the Goans was spoilt by one criminal who seems to be a SATAN.

  70. Why do Goans do not have any unity either in Goa or overseas. If we Goans have shown some respect for our fellow Goans we would not have been ruled by morons in Goa or swindon. Lack of education and crab mentallity lets us down everywhere.

  71. My question is what did Santan achieved by doing this ? or is it that the old committee didn't manage the account properly to hand over the account, As per my knowledge GSA had £23000.00 in the bank and £4000.00 cash in hand in 2010. So is this happening bcoz of the money. Secondly GSA owns Laptop which was bought for around £450 with insurance paid every month, plus utencils (handdyo) where are all the things of GSA kept. My message for the goans in Swindon to attend the meeting called on 23/07/2011 and sort out the thing in a nice and fair manner.

Think carefully before you make such stupid remarks-do not judge or  class all Goans working in Swindon as illiterate or "ghanti". I do concur that there are many Goans who live/work in Swndon who are not exactly shining examples of true Goan culture, but then again there are many more who are not in your category of "ghantis".

  81. Ghanti. term given to a non-goan of indian origin, who does not speak proper konkani, has migrated to Goa, etc etc. I believe this is somewhat a loose definition of ghanti (which literally translates to people from that Ghats). None of the goans in swindon even come close to this loose definition. Probably you need to ask your friend what exactly he meant. I dont know if you are in Goa or in another country. but in the UK, most natives call people who have migrated to UK immigrants ( sometimes they add " bloody" in front as well). Please visit swindon if you can and get to know how goans work, live etc and then make up your mind.

Before thinking of noise pollution in Swindon through Goa day, think of you personal problems first and then of others. 1. Dont let your wife sleep with someone else to repay your borrowed money. 2. Return all the money you borrowed from your beloved friends and family. 3. Dont Gamble GSA money. 4. Dont ever think you can rule goans in swindon. 5. GSA is of all Goans and not from Goa-Velha, Agassian and  Batim people.

Abel Nunes - I bet you that Maharaja will think of you first, before writing a letter because you are his right(writing) hand. 2. If you was in France, people saw you the night before celebrating cancellation of Goa Day. 3. Abel you are a lying Ass motherfucker. Remember your judgement day is closer. 4. Your logic, No rainbow, no Goaday.

ENTRY for the Goa Day was kept FREE from 10 am to 4pm only because they WANTED PEOPLE TO MISS THE RETREAT DURING retreat hours.Just after finishing the retreat LORD showed magic.Ex President ABEL, Chairman Rosendo were thrown out of the event .They were offended in front of all the Goans.Next day there was uproar regarding this incident. All Goans wanted to know the reason behind it.Meeting was called by General Secretary Jacinto FROM THEIR OWN COMMITTE.He was for truth and justice. He did not part with them because of their selfish attitude.SANTANA AND PETER(Minguel)  treatened him . He did not bow to their pressures. At the meeting JACINTO along with more than 50 PERCENT OF THE ELECTED committe members RESIGNED  from the committe. The Committe OF SANTANA & FLORIANO(MONI) was dissolved.Pleople still wanted to know the reason.Next meeting was fixed, letters and emails were sent to them but it fell on deaf ears. They did not bother to come nor reply to the letter.Enough time within the constitution was provided.Caretaker was appointed to elect the new committee. At the Elections JACINTO SOUZA did not wished to contest.People forced him to be a nominee and he was elected as President.THIS WAS the END OF 4 SATAN(FLORIAN,MINGUEL&ABEL).REST IN PEACE.

    Hi (HAI)Mdmamba7:

Niz Goenkars accept spelling and grammatic mistakes made by commentators.
Comments are informal views, discussions, reports  and debates.
The email that Santana sent to the Local Borough Council was meant to be formal (or as Santana would write "FOMAL".)
Instead of parading himself as a Gambling & debt ridden President of Swindon Goans, Santana should enrol himself in a school to develop his reading & writing skills.
Lets us hope the Good Goan citizens of Swindon , will not trust their finances with a bankrupt.
This Santana reminds me of a character called "FAGIN" from the Charles Dickens novel called Olver Twist.
Santana must be the Goan FAGIN in Swindon.

The Social Services department & NSPCC(National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) may be interested in Santana.
If Santana is gambling away his Childrens Government benefits (Tax Credits), that could  ring alarm bells.
The man should first sor out his gambling addiction and then take on the stresses of being a President.
Using his Presidency as a means to an end to support his gambling addiction is a social burden or burden on society.

Urban & text english is used by trendy youngsters ,teenagers & immature & linguistically deficient  adults.

However you too have indicated an error of judgement in stating that People are jealous of Swindon Goans.
I am not sure where you have bought or formulated this theory from.
I can tell you, that it is too far from the truth & reality.

You also demonstrate a sense of gross narrow-mindedness in believing that Goans or anyone else should be judged by their houses they have built.I have never heard such crazy nonsense .
But having read some of your ninsensical comments here today, It is expected from you.

People should be judged by their acts of goodness, values, morals  and deeds....not blooming houses or materialism.

  119. Gosh who is this Guy??? Referring to Andrewpegado! have you even read the comment of "Silvestor Bethalbatim" properly? Where did he call anyone names? he said "Lets NOT Stereo type Goa Velha Goans" And my friend? Who ever gave you the right to call South Goa People Rapist and Chor’s of Goa? No offence but I think South Goa People have done quite a bit for the better of Goa.  We all Goans at the end of the day, why do we have to call names and fight with each other? There are people among us who gain when we go astray like this…

    To Andrew Pegado:
Silvestor Bethalbatim has made a very fair and balanced comment.
He has not criticised or condemned  anyone from Goa Velha.Even a partially blindor illiterate  person can see that.
I am not sure why his comment has disturbed or upset you.
Could this be due to your  personal illiteracy, lack of reading & writing skills, and love of making a noise like an empty vessel?

  125. TO ALL GOANS AND THE COMMENTATORS ON THIS BLOG:

I once again request you to stop all this inter fighting.  We as Goans should be united and one in mind and body.  We should not fight among ourselves otherwise as in Goa outsiders will take our advantage.  It looks disgusting to see Goans fighting among themselves.

Unity is what we need at this hour and not interfighting and degrading each other.  Mistakes to happen.  They can be solved amicably among us Goans without involving any body else in this.

Some are accusing each other without knowing the facts.  Please stop all this as this will get us nowhere.

What has happened has happened.  It cannot be taken back. Let us now go ahead and think for the best and what good we can do for Goa and Goans.

I kindly request all of you to stop attacking any individual from now on and think of a solution to have a grand GOA DAY - Editor Niz Goenkar

    To Andrew Pegado:

In a response to Goa Aloud, you seem to be making severe threats. This is typical of a bully & coward or, as in Goa, where we address people like you, as goondas & ill-brought up social misfits.

I am sure you have worked very .very hard to  buy a BIG mobile phone, just like a big house. However we  do not need you to paint Goa Velha, Swindon  or any other town RED with your Mobile telephone no.
It is of no useful purpose to us.Keep it to yourself.

On a serious note, may I remind you that Churchill & Valanka are Public figures. They have described Goans as squealing pigs.Additionally , you may be aware that Churchill has offered Goans jobs as watchmen.
Lets us hope your children will domuch  better & not need to take up this offer from Churchill.

Similarly, may I remind you that Moni and Abel, described in the comment by Goa Aloud are also Public Figures or the Public Face of Goa Swindon Association. They claim to represent Goans.

They are part and parcel of the group that  cancelled the Goa Day, to the detrimental enjpyment of others.
For this reason , they are being rightly criticised. They are being described as Pigs as they they to  have been implicated for  burying their noses in a dirty GSA  "trough" (feeding vesell).

  131. DEAR ALL COMMENTATORS HERE AND SPECIALLY FROM UK,

I was present personally covering the news myself.  Mr. Abel Nunes came there and bravely clarified himself and his stand on the Goa Day as can be heard in Video.  He openly said that he has no objections on the Goa Day.

If Abel was at all guilty he would not have come all alone to give his clarification.  He also clarified that he was not even aware of his name being on the email.

Hence as a NEUTRAL and news Editor, I request all of you to stop attacks on Abel and specially his family, as he very clearly gave his opinion that he has no intention of getting the Goa Day cancelled.  It was his not guilty conscience that brought him to talk and explain about himself to the people.

I once again request all the Goans to stop attacking Mr. Abel Nunes and as well others and get on with the work of getting the Goa Day organised where all Goans can come and have fun.

Heeding advice of the Editor, I would like to clarify one more point here.Andrew Pegado is from my neighbouring village and is a know person to everyone who are in UK or otherwise. He is known as the "protector" of those families or women and kids left behind by those brothers who go abroad. He is very nice, helpful, he visits most of these families to look after their welfare. At times, he is very much criticized for taking the trust of his friends for a ride, he is accused of womanising behind the curtains. Andrew is surely offended when so many critics are after Santan, in fact I understand he and Santan including Abel are very close who even took him some months back to Swindon. I could also understand that the village women must have contacted him to defend the brothers in Swindon. May I request Andrew Pegado to lie low and don't get self exposed? The Swindon Goans will sort it out. - Gregory

Andrew you are insulting the people of Swindon by commenting that they did not touch any books. Do not compare them with the illiterate Politicians that have ruined Goa. Yes they are hard working that want earn a leaving without stealing like Goan Politicians. Likewise the Goans of Swindon had prepared themselves to make a few Bucks by putting up stalls. Their young children rehearsed for the day and it was a day to meet many of their relatives. Who Ruined their Day? Simple answer is simple  three arrogant stooges of their committee, and the proof is in the pudding. And as you ask others what they did for Goa, do not ask me the same question.

    To Elvisdias goa:

I apprecaite your need to defend your friend Abel.
However please advise Abel, that he has a right to reply to all commentators here.

He can put across his case  as he deems fit.It is perhaps time he did this to put the records straight

As for your big nonsense of defamation and huge money claims, I would advise you to better educate yourself on this. You are certainly no expert on defamation.Writing rubbish might be your current hobby and past-time.

Abel must be laughing at you for putting a value on his head ad calling him an idol.
In the eyes of all Goans everywhere his is none of these.

I do not think your comments here are helping Abel in any way.Instead they are damaging him further and demonstrating the type of friends he keeps & has.

I hope Abel has the good sense to control your craziness &  utter stupidity.

Once again I hope he will put his case across to once and for all clear the air and confusion.

I think most commentators by now, have realised that Andrew Pegado is an illiterate  goonda and perhaps a nuisance to all his neighbours in Goa.He like to talk big,
He has not got the message yet that his comments are pointless and useless.
His friend Abel, who he is trying to defend, must be thoroughly ashamed of him by now.
If Andrew came here to defend Abel, he has failed miserably.
I only hope Andrew can write much better and more proficiently in at least Konkani.
But I have my doubts .

  162. First of all Abel being the secretary of santans group, there is no point in letting Abel know that his name will go with that letter. Obviously everyone in the group knew that this was going to come. There is loads to talk, I heard Abels and other other bands including all other performances where going to be free? As per I know Abel would never play with his band for free. At some point he knew that there was no Goa day happening so he agreed to play free. This mastermind sir Abel with his uneducated students santana and mouni has done it all. And abel dint come on his own to prove about the letter, he was called for the meeting so he can play things safe.

  165. The fault lines remain exposed. Although I hope the situation is resolved amicably, i have my concerns, snippets fo which are shown by the comments on this issue. It would be good to hear the version from the other side, not through comments here but by someone from NG approaching the perpertrators and get their view. My personal opinion is that the event should have taken place, regardless of who organised it. All people from Goa have come to foreign shores have come with the intent and hope of bettering themselves,so why all this mess. I think NG should take the lead and get both parties together and discuss this as responsible and mature people and find a lasting solution or else this type of unwanted incident will happen again.Regarding the meeting on county ground, although the intentions are right, it will be chaotic.Everyone will want to speak.Everyone can give suggestions but a few have to take a decision.
I commend the editor for taking the initiative of putting the long overdue note about comments. This site has given people the opportunity to debate. but the same has been abused blatantly by some (unfortunatele these include some who are even well respected here) I have been commenting on this site for a few months and although I don't agree with some articles and comments, I don't see a point in abusing someone and calling them names etc etc.Pointless, beats the aim of debate, stifles debate. Probably all it does is relieves some frustration.I sincerely hope you need to the editors excellent advice and continue to have clean debate.

    Hi D Justin:
Your correction and apology of the facts of Swindon Goans is highly honorouable and decent.
    I /we  appreciate that.
Andrew Pegado, a thug & goonda on the other hand, has single-handedly destroyed the reputation of the folks of Goa Velha.

I am sure the residents of Swindon coming from Goa Velha will like to dis-associate themselves from him.
He is an utter disgrace and a demonstration of Low-life.

He talks in a violent& thuggish  language.

Reading his comments , he can only resolves issues using his fists Violence.

Before using his fists and loud mouth & little Brains, he talks about suing for defamation and making huge money claims.
I very much doubt Andrew Pegado understands the difference between defamation and aggravation.
He threatens to sue, for others for  foul language & defamation, when in  his own comments it is permissible.

I am sure the Swindon Police & Home Office will be interested in his comments, each and every one I have read, which are of a threatening , criminal& violent  nature. He has made perceived threats to various commentators.

If he has come to the UK on a Tourist Visa, as some comments suggest above, and sponsored by his brother -in -law Abel or anyone else,he is in breach of the terms & conditions of his Visa.
He will be classified as an un-desirable, his visa revoked and he will be deported back to Goa Velha.

If Andrew Pegado, gets involved in any criminal activity in Swindon, there is sufficient evidence here on NG that will go against him & be detrimental to his defence.

This is what people all over say that Goans are like grabs they just like to pull down one another and that is why other nationalities take a big advantage of it and where are we? the goans? no where, just looking out for faults and by the way if you guys wanted that goa day should have taken place then why did'nt the GSA do all the formalities before hand? I agree that Mr Santano should'nt have done this at the last moment when all the preparations had been made but he is not the only one to be blamed the other commity members are equally at fault for not doing all the required formalities on time.

  190. Why you people are arguing on one anothers comments. If we the goans are blaming and cursing one another than why do we need the british racists we ourselves are doing racism on one other see all of the above comments full of abusements and violence.please respect each other. Jesus did'nt come to judge us then who the hell are we to jugde others? By the way if you guys wanted that the goa day should have taken place then why did'nt the goan commity get the licenses that were required for a successful goa day. I know that it wasnt very nice of Mr Santano to call off at the last moment he is not the only one at fault if all the requirements had been done before hand then nobody would have been able to cancel the goa day

TO CIPRIANO (CIPIN) FERNANDES.  YOUR FATHER MARCO WAS A WELL RESPECTED PERSON IN GOA. WITH HIS HARD EARNED MONEY HE MUST HAVE SEND YOU'LL TO SCHOOL. BY PORTRAYING YOURSELF AS AN IGNORANT FOOL AND ASKING ABEL " HO KHON ? HO KHON?" BY DOING THIS U R SPOILING YOUR FATHER'S IMAGE. I (SANTANA SOUZA) IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. PONDER  FOR A WHILE THEN ASK DEZI YOUR BROTHER WHOSE FRIEND I WAS?

    To Santansouza15:

I cannot see a Cipriano (Cipin) Fernandes, son of Marco commenting here or having left a comment.
Please can you confirm who are you refering to, and what is the relevance of your comment.

I appreciate, you have been under a lot of pressure over the last 2 days.
But remember, you invited this upon yourself, and sadly upon your family, due to your selfishness, over-estimation of yourself  and shameful & disgraceful behaviour.

I am not sure why Cipriano has to also ask his brother Dezi, whose friend you were or are still are.
What is the purpose of this?.

I hope you will now allow another Goan Association to be formed, since you are now being seen as a complete failure and spoiler & destroyer of a major function.
I hope you have learnt a lesson from this. But I doubt it.

Santana your road is leading to nowhere, you have disgraced yourself, by denying the decent Swindon Goans to enjoy Goa Day. Families had prepared to make some money by having stalls and  their children would have shown their talent to what they had practiced. You self centered person has ruined it for them so why don't you reimburse them all. . Are you day dreaming in mentioning Cipraino Fernandes? Judas hanged himself after betraying Jesus, For your betrayal Just simply resign before you get yourself into more dept.   Swindon Goans DO NOT NEED YOU. Ta Ta. Bye Bye

  194. Santana is in par with Saddam Hussein and Idi Amin. They were kicked out of power so should Santana.

  195. In Swindon there were 5 kings; 4 in the pack of cards and 1 called Santano Souza, who turned out to be  a JOKER now. The Goans should ignore him now as he is under hallucination.

**THIS INFORMATION IS IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN******

No sign of the illiterate Photographer & thug,Andrew Pegado, from Goa Velha, commenting here today.
Looks like , he may be made aware ,the Swindon Police could be monitoring his "Tourist" activities, on his way back to Goa from Canada.
He should just go back and run his photography Business in Goa Velha, and look after the wives of Goans who have migrated to the UK.

    here is some info ..
