PANJIM: Goa tourism will undertake a Rs.20 million TV advertising blitz in around 150 countries across Europe, Africa and Asia to lure foreign tourists to Goa's beaches, a top tourism official said Thursday. State Tourism Director Swapnil Naik said the advertising blitz would reach out to over 60 million viewers across Europe, Africa and South East Asia.
“The entire campaign will be broadcast on the Travel Channel International (TCI), which is a reputed international channel. The campaign will be telecast in eight languages, which includes English, Polish, German and Russian,” Naik said. The nine-week ad campaign would begin from the second week of July.
Naik said that former Miss Russia Svetlana Stepankovskaya, Indian model Alisha Pekha and actress Mahima Chaudhury are part of the campaign to lure foreign as well as domestic tourists to Goa.
NIZ GOENKAR ADDS: It is a pity that the government is spending huge money on such projects is a folly. This may be good for the five star hotels and not for the common man. Digambar Kamat is busy, building and inaugurating air-conditioned toilets whereas the state of affairs in public health domains like Hospicio and GMC is like rubbish. The common man is suffering on the death bed in severe heat and humidity without proper ventilation, forget about air-conditioners. The garbage is everywhere. It will be a good point by these advertising campaigns to show the reality of Goa in these advertisements, the reality of Goa including a mention that the state is a drugs heaven. That the tourists could not be safe due to the police brutality and corruption.
Great, air-conditioners for GMC patients? WOH! Goans can dream of seeing that? If one really want to be in Air-Conditioned room in the government hospitals, commit a big crime, get caught. Then, complain of CHEST PAIN and straight sleep or enjoy caring rest in ICU till the case die down. Normal trend in Goa followed by the political criminals.
ReplyDeleteAnother idiot has taken over the tourism department, Nilcanth Alorncar looks like a beedie seller to me and has now seen something that he never saw in life. Can somebody please tell us what his educational qualifications are? The other dumb idiot is the gay swapnil naik. Not only he looks like a gay, but acts also like a gay wasting the hard earned money of the Goans for their pleasure
ReplyDeleteMost Tourists visiting Goa nowadays, are appaled by the Garbage and stink every where.
ReplyDeleteOne cannot take one step forward or backward,or move left or right without seeing garbage.
Goa Tourist Board can apply a lot of Gloss to attract Tourists, but many Tourists leave with a poor image of Goa, if one reads some of their experiences..
The main attraction for Tourists is Cost of living, the beaches & sunshine.Nothing else.
With that kind of money the states's entire plann of house to house segregated garbage collection can be realised. Make Goa Garbage free and the whole world would love to come to Goa.
ReplyDeleteThis is nothing but a kickback expenditure for sure.
Its a huge waste of taxpayers money
ReplyDeleteits a huge waste of taxpayers money
ReplyDeleteI smell another small ( compared to 2G and commonwealth) scam over here... 150 countries across Europe, Africa and Asia??? Wow!!! What are the mechanism that they have to check whether they have advertised or not? Why will they do so after they get their percentage? Do brand 'Goa' needs such huge investment?
ReplyDeleteThis bloody illiterate Nilkanth Halarnkar and the gay Swapnil should first convince the govt to tackle the garbage problem. These idiots were born and brought up in garbage and so do not realise what a mess garbage is creating in Goa today. It is a big shame for all Goans and very embarrasing and reflects so poorly on our civic sense and hygiene to the tourists. Even desi Kerala is so clean.
ReplyDeleteThe illioterate ministers of Goa are hell bent on making money and spoiling the name of Goa forever. The sight of garbage strewn all over does not mean much to them. Joaquim Alemao the garbage ministers should be dumped ar Sonsoddo and forced to rot by compressing the garbage over him with road rollers.
All the other ministers and opposition MLAs should be burnt alongwith the garbage generated in their constituencies or buried in deep garbge pits along with the garbage.
Shyam, I don't think one needs any educational qualifications to become a Tourism Minister. We have seen the tailor Mickey Mouse. Biddie seller or Gay won't make much difference as long as their biddies or cheeruts stand up. They are the true examples for all the rapes and othet crimes taking place in Goa.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Another harebrained scheme to loot taxpayers money. Tourism dept makes a lot of money, yet they fail to keep clean the beaches and other tourist spots. Filth and stench is all around, which these stupid idiots avoid seeing or smelling. They want to spoil goan image overseas. Funny that whats actually revolting to us is actually glorious to these blind men.
ReplyDelete"BACTERIA GOLDEN BEACHES" is the answers we receive from tourist. Wow! weeks ago your politician's kit or kin was speaking of clean golden paradise Ghanti beach she has call "CALVAM". Needs Goeankar to clean it. Hope Remo may have the answer.
ReplyDeleteHis Qualifications?
ReplyDeleteM.A., PhD ( Matirc Appeared; Psychologically Detained)
Baba, how can they make Goa "Garbage Free"?
ReplyDeleteThey will have to go with the garbage NO?
Sorry! It is not a "Big Shame" for all GOANS!
ReplyDeleteIt is Shame only for those Goans who elect these idiots to represent them.
It is not a shame to the GOANS who openly oppose their wrong doings
First clean Goa of its filthy slums, Garbage and corrupt police and politicians. Tourism benefit only the elite few not the entire Goan population.
ReplyDeleteWhy do they want to pay huge sums for the promo campaigns by engaging cheap indian actresses. They should hire the latest craze BJP item girl SUSHMA SWARAJ ... what a way she danced for her dear baba Ramdev in the dark of the night at Mahatma Gandhi's Samadhi. She can move it oh yeah, move it. Only jokers like Mickey and Damu should be kept away from her.
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note as a strong protest citizens should dump all the garbage one day in front of the tourism ministers residence for wasting tax-payers money for such flings instead of utilising it to solve the garbage problem. Tourists will come automatically in droves once garbage is taken care of.
All the dancing around trees of Indian actresses in the ad campaign will only attract GHANTTI tourists, who are a real pain and nuisance. Infact Govt should discourage GHANTTI tourists by charging hefty fees from GHANTTIS for visiting all tourist places. This is one way of cleaning Goa. Keep the sharmas,ellappas,yedurappas,guptas,velingkars,parekhs....out.
nilkhant who has given you the portfolio of tourism minister.looking at you no tourist will want to come in goa.
ReplyDeletetourist will not benefit the goans but the corrupt polices in gaining more hafta and stupid illetrate politicians.
swapnil r u cragy first tell diggu to clean the garbage in goa then promote tourism.
u people are really making fun of goans
my dear goans please wake up but i can say in what way oppose everything come on the streets break everything and show your anger on corruption not on silly issues like moi.
he he hheee
