PANJIM: Even as the Director General of Police Aditya Arya’s request to ‘rethink on the transfers of the superintendents of police’ is under consideration, State government has said that Goa police should implement the present order.
“The letter of request has been forwarded to the government. There is no decision taken so far…the department should however implement the government’s order,” said sources.
If the department delays implementing the order, sources said, it might have to face the wrath from the State government. Secretariat sources said the police chief requested certain changes in the transfer order. The letter reportedly requests to withdraw an additional charge of assistant commander (Indian Reserve Battalion) given to IPS officer Vijay Singh, who is also heading the anti narcotics cell.
Besides, DGP also expressed anxiousness over additional charges given to SP Shekhar Prabhudesai who is asked to handle two heavy divisions - police headquarters and Police Training Centre at Valpoi and Wireless section.
No doubt the Government calls the shots when it comes to transfers, but can the govt. do it without taking the DGP into confidence?
ReplyDeleteIt will not make much of a difference to us Goans.
ReplyDeleteThe Corrupt Police force /Personnell will just be operating from diffferent locations.
Moving a stained brick or a lump of infected wood will not change its composition,DNA or bio-data.
Jobs in Goa Police are very cushy. If you commit a crime and are found out, you just get 6 months to 1 year paid leave / holiday 75% of your salary, a most useless inquiry and thereafter, re-istatement.
You also retain all you Pension rights and any criminal record disappears.
I am yet to hear of a Goa Police Constable/ Official being completely disgraced and thrown out of the service or jailed.
