PANJIM: The Anjuna police arrested four persons for hiring Nepali nightclub 'dancing girls' for commercial sex work (CSW). The girls were rescued and sent to the state protective home. The raid was conducted by the police when they received information that a sex racket was going on in the area.
Police arrested Dyaneshwar Halankar, 27, Rajesh Gaonkar, 27, Johnson Mascarenhas, 19 and Melvyn Noronha, 29, for hiring the four Nepali girls who worked as dancing girls in a night club. Police said that as the night club had closed down last week, the four girls were involved in flesh trade in the state.
"We got information on Friday evening that the girls would be going out with four customers and they had asked to be paid Rs 1,000 each for the night. As they knew their customers, they first took the four accused to the flat of one of the victim girl in Nagao," police said.
According to the police, they then went to the helipad at Vagator, where the police team led by PI Manjunath Desai caught them. "The girls, who are in their early twenties, were rescued and sent to the Protective Home. The accused confessed that they had hired the women for sex work and therefore we have booked them under various sections of Immoral Traffic Prevention Act," said police sources.
If the Goan Police are serious at executing their duties, Goa would be free from Drugs and Pimps. Then again it is the politicians that roost the day of crime under Police protection.
