PANJIM: Three minor boys escaped from the state-run home, Apna Ghar, Merces, on Friday evening. Two of them were later caught by police and handed over to the home authorities. One minor is still missing.
Old Goa police said that the three boys, who are children in conflict with law, escaped from Apna Ghar while they were being brought by the caretakers from the non-formal school on Friday evening at about 4.15pm. The three, who are in their teens, managed to run away from the caretaker.
"Two of the boys were caught later in the night. While one was hiding in Bambolim, another was found in Curca," said police. The two boys were handed over to the Apna Ghar authorities. However, the third boy, who is from Margao, is yet to be traced. "We are trying to search for him with the help of the Apna Ghar authorities. We are yet to trace him," police said.
In March 2011, two juveniles staying at the Apna Ghar escaped by cutting the window grills of the home. The escape took place between 8.45pm and 9.45pm. One of the minors was found by the Canacona police. This was the second escape incident within a span of two days.
I get shit scared of whatever is handed over to the police. Because they sell whatever is confiscated.
