UK CORONER’S OFFICE UNEARTHS MORE EVIDENCE IN SCARLET KEELING DEATH

PANJIM: Since more evidences in the British teenager Scarlet Keeling Eden’s death case is likely to tumble out, the Coroner’s office in UK has refused to release the teenager’s body to her mother Fiona Mackeown.   The office has told the mother that there are several evidences found during the third autopsy on the body that were not considered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
While the office is more than willing to share the information with the CBI on request, the latter did not contact the UK office during their course of investigation. The investigating agency filed a supplementary chargesheet in Children’s Court in October 2009.
Fiona said that despite her repeated requests, Coroner’s office has refused to release the body for burial. These evidences were discovered by the Coroner’s office while conducting the autopsy on Scarlet’s body in the UK after it was transported from Goa in April 24, 2008.
However, since then no investigating agency contacted the coroner’s office for their assistance.
Scarlet’s semi-clad bruised body was found on the shores of Anjuna on February 18, 2008 morning. CBI has charged two locals - Samson D’Souza and Placido Carvalho - with culpable homicide, outraging modesty of a woman and destroying evidences of the Indian Penal Code.  Legal representative to Fiona Advocate Vikram Varma said that Coroner’s statement attains significance.
“The coroner must have reasons to believe that the evidence collected after conducting numerous forensic tests in India would be requested by the CBI or the court responsible for dispensing justice,” he said.  Fiona, however, has expressed her reservations over the way CBI has probed the case. “I understand that the CBI is the most respected investigating agency in India.
However, their achievements in the Arushi murder case have dampened my faith in the justice they will provide to Scarlet,” she said.  Goa Medical College had carried out two post-mortems on the teenager’s body.  Her body was found when rest of her family was touring Karnataka.

  1. This case was whitewash before any investigation started because of high profile persons involved. It is very unlikely that a victim in Goa will receive any Justice.

  2. The very fact that the body of Scarlett Keeling has not been laid to rest speaks volumes. So many visitors to Goa are being done away with due to the drug trafficking, sex and all sorts of other evil crimes being committed. All these are being swept under the carpet. As long as justice is not done to this young girl and the criminals brought to book Goa will bear the shame of not standing up to demand justice.

We have allowed the very soul of Goa to be destroyed.
