PROTEST BY BOGMALO LOCALS AGAINST INDIAN NAVY FOR TRYING TO FORCIBLY ANNEX BIMBVEL ISLANDS

MARGAO: Residents from Bogmalo and surrounding areas converged at a public meeting near Bogmalo beach on Thursday evening to protest the proposed land acquisition of Bimbel beach and two St George islands by the Indian Navy.
It has been learnt that the Navy is out to build a luxury resort at the Bimbvel Islands for their families. It has also been learnt that Sudhir Pillai has his own personal ambitions under the guise of the Navy Commander to have a larger chunk of the Islands for himself
The villagers resolved to lead a morcha to the legislative assembly complex on February 2 to demand that the government does not accede to the Navy's demand. Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik and deputy speaker Mauvin Godinho who were present on the occasion, expressed their support to the public agitation. Panchayat members of the area were also present.
The public resentments are that though Mauvin Godinho was present and was pledging his support to the people, the case is otherwise. Some public has on condition of anonymity has said that it is Mauvin Godinho who is helping the Navy to acquire the islands for their personal pleasure and fun at a very high amount.

  1. These ministers same minister and his associates are the ones that have sold Goan land to non-Goans. They have destroyed almost every Goan village and allowed slums to flourish all over Goa. Now it is the Navy that has been dictating and threatening Goans aided by our Goan ministers that are bending backwards to the Central Government. This is not a problem for Bogmalo and surrounding residents only, but also a problem for the whole of Goa. Goans must rise up in unity and protest together or else the whole of Goa will become a military State. Vote these two faced thieves who run Goa out of power sooner than latter.

  2. Yes without the hand of the local politician there can be no chance of the Navy attempting to grab the islands. The Indians must know that the Goans now will not allow the Indian animals to rob our land and loot us. We do not need the occupying forces in our Goa and their Navy who wants the islands for their luxuries

  3. First of all let me ask this questions to all Niz Goenkar. What the Navy and Army has done to Goa since the annexation of Goa by the Indian Government? The Army has occupied the whole of Bambolim pleateau whereas the Navy has taken the airport, and the major part of Mormugao taluka, the islands etc. They get the best facilities i.e. free schooling for their children, medical benefits, free housing etc. etc., and we poor Goans does not even get the basic necessities of daily life and we have to really slog to earn our daily bread whereas these people get all these benefits at the cost of the Government doing absolutely nothings. Do we really need them to protect Goa and in how many instances have they fought the real battle in Goa. These people are only occupying our land for the mere simple reasoning of safety and security of Goa and enjoying the fruit of our labour. Do we really require their services? Can we drive these people out of Goa and form and build our own Army & Navy to save guard and protect our own boundaries?
