HARIPRASAD DENIES ANY DEMAND BY CONGRESSMEN TO SACK THE HOME MINISTER

PANJIM: The All-India Congress Committee general-secretary in charge of Goa affairs, Mr B K Hariprasad has said that there has been no demand from any quarter of the party to divest the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik of his portfolio.  Addressing a press conference after attending the first meeting of the newly elected Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Hariprasad said that no one raised the issue during the meeting and that no request has been made by any one so far to him to remove Mr Naik as Home Minister.
He said that if any one has made any demand for removal of the Home Minister outside the party fora then it was against the party discipline. He denied having received any report from the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat as regards to demand for removal of Mr Naik as Home Minister. He also said that he was happy with the performance of the government over the last four years.
Stating that drug consumption or trafficking was a social menace, Mr Hariprasad said the menace needed to be dealt with iron hand, even as he said the menace of drugs was not confined to Goa alone.
He also stated that home department was a sensitive department and action could not be taken merely on the basis of allegations, and asked the reporters to give proof of “wrongdoings” so that action could be initiated against those involved in drug trafficking.
The Chief Minister intervened to say that the special investigating team headed by Mr Om Prakash Kurtarkar to prove police-drug traffickers nexus has been directed to get to the bottom of the drugs menace. He also said that all those whose names figure in the list would be called for questioning by the team and strict action would be taken against all those found involved in the nexus.
Earlier, Mr Hariprasad told reporters that the meeting was held to brief the members of the GPCC about the recently held 83 plenary session of the Congress party. He informed that as per the directive of the party a 5-7 member committee would be formed to liaise between the party and the government for implementation of around 60 flagship programmes of the party.
He also said the Congress high command has directed all the states to carry out its directives and programmes and implement all of its 60 flagship programmes, for which 80 per cent of funds come from the central government. He said a special monitoring committee would be formed to get feedback about implementation of the programmes.
The AICC general-secretary further said the GPCC would launch Jan Jagran Abhiyan from January 23 in all 40 constituencies to highlight the achievements of the United Progressive Alliance governments since 2004 and counter the tirade and misinformation campaign launched by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party. The first of such programme would be held in Margao.
He also said the Jan Jagran Abhiyan would also be used by the party to prepare for the next assembly elections due in less about a year and half. As regards to alliance between the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party, he said the decision would be taken by the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi.
On the issue of inclusion of Mr Francisco Xavier Pacheco in the cabinet, he said the issue was before the high commands of both the parties and that the decision would be taken at the high command level on the issue.

  1. All are crooks and thieves in the Indian Politics specially the Congress, but that does not exclude the BJP and NCP. What is Hariprasad, he must have come down and distributed crores of money to the remaining congressmen to support Ravi Naik and of course the money must have come from Roy Naik the son of Pilot Ravi Naik from the sale of Drugs: Brought Free of Charge from the police department (from the confiscated) and made crores of money.

Now B. K Hariprasad at a news confernce quoted that there has been no move whatsoever fron anyone to Divest the Home Minister. So if this is the case who is fooling whom? The press or the Rulling Government? Inspite of all the disasters that have taken place during the tenure of this coalition Govt, the Govt still has the audacity to make a statement that they are happy with their PERFORMANCE. What performance are they Bragging about? I am sure they are bragging about the performance in selling drugs, In committing Rapes,In conducting botched up investigations, in corruption at every level. There is no better performance they can brag about. People need a change. Let the People be the voice, let the people wake up, let it be an all out Revolt at the way the Govt is conducting itself...There is nothing but a "TUNISIA" style revolt in the air.

  4. The citizens of Goa have spoken up against the corrupt criminal politicians who have muddied the name of Goa and Goans in it. The drug trade, rapes, brutality and death in custody other crimes are flourishing under the cover of our Government Ministers some of whom are directly involved. This Hariprasad must have received a hefty amount of the drug money controlled by politicians. These Non-Goan parties' candidates must not be elected to govern Goa.

  5. Congress = corrupt. This in hariprasad is another delhi idiot who tries to solve goa's problem. Despite all the evidence of drugs, police brutality and coruption, what evidence does he need? Goans are demanding resignation of Hashish naik and a criminal investigation og his drug links, along with the police. For this reason I pray that Niz Goenkar start a party with the interests of goans. And keep out the present traitors.
