MARGAO: A police team headed by police inspector of Canacona police station, Mr Raju Raut Dessai has left for Ratnagiri in connection with the investigation of the temple theft cases reported in South Goa.
It is learnt that Mr Dessai has visited the Ratnagiri police station to find out details regarding the temple thefts reported in that jurisdiction. He has also visited Kolhapur crime branch in order to collect information, it is learnt. He has also met officials at Nasik, it is learnt.
Earlier, PI, Mr Dessai has visited Kumta, Honnawar, Dharwad, Hubli and other places in Karnataka. Police have decided to collect various details and then study the modus operandi adopted by the robbers in other states.
Several temple thefts have taken place in South Goa with major ones being at Sai Baba Temple, Borim, Kamleshwar temple, Ponda, Hari Mandir, Margao, Shri Krishna Temple, Cuncolim, Sateri temple, Curchorem, Chandranath temple, Paroda, Shantadurga Kitalekarni, Fatorpa and Nag temple at Fatorda. Almost all the cases have not been detected. (NT)
