VASCO: Four insurgents including a woman, belonging to the People’s United Liberation Front (PULF), a Muslim group based in Manipur, were arrested at Bazarwado in Cansaulim on Wednesday, in a joint operation carried out by the Manipur police, Intelligence Bureau, Goa Armed Police and Eagle Force with the assistance of the Verna police, informed the deputy superintendent of police, Vasco, Mr Mahesh Gaonkar.
Mr Gaonkar further disclosed that the insurgents include, Samsad alias Sauda Khan (35), the wife of PULF chief, I M Khan, who has been earlier arrested by the Intelligence Bureau in Belgaum some seven to eight months ago besides her three companions, Samir alias Babu Islamdin Khan (19), Nursafir alias Safi Mansur (33) and Ayakpam alias Mukna Maniram Singh (30).
Samsad alias Sauda Khan is a resident of Kairao Awang Leikai, Thonbal in Trilbung district of Manipur, he added.
The police produced the four before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, for transfer warrant and handing them over to the Manipur police for further investigation.
The Goa police team which was led by superintendent of police, South, Mr Allan D’Sa, and included the deputy superintendent of police, Vasco, Mr Mahesh Gaonkar, Verna police inspector, Mr Jivba Dalvi, assistant intelligence officer, Intelligence Bureau, Margao, Mr K N Arunkumar, along with three-member team consisting of armed police force, Captain Sachin Kumar, Manipur police commando, police sub-inspector, Mr Nula Thungam and hawaldar, Mr Mohammed Mujibur Rehman raided the flat on third floor of a building located in the vicinity of Bazarwado in Cansaulim, on Wednesday morning, acting on intelligence inputs that the PULF members are operating from the state.
Mr Gaonkar further said that the insurgents have a criminal record in Manipur. The police team has seized 7 mobile handsets and one laptop from their possession.
"The PULF chairperson, Samsad alias Sauda Khan was caught easily," he stated and ruled out possibility of more insurgents or naxalites operating in Goa.
Captain Sachin Kumar told this paper that the insurgents are involved in killings besides extortion cases in Manipur. Although the insurgents were demanding a separate state, they were later seen involved in killing people and extortion cases, he added.
He further said that after the arrest of M I Khan in Belgaum the reign of the PULF in Manipur was taken over by his wife, Samsad alias Sauda Khan.

  1. Very funny, that everytime police from other states come to Goa and arrrest the terrrorists, Criminals and Flesh traders. They come from thousands of miles away and do a good job and our Goa Police, do nothing except take bribes and kill people in their custody. Totally useless intelligence we have in Goa. Just look at the picture of Mahesh Gaonkar has become like glutton eating haftas and looting people. He is not even ashamed to talk to the media. God alone knows how many more terrorists and criminals are hiding in Goa with the influx of the Indian ghanttis. SHAME ON YOU USELESS GOA POLICE. Has Deshpande got to say something on this? Or will he cover up their negligence. If pressured they will round up the sleeping coolies at the bus stands or catch some innocent Goans and dub them as criminals. They have only one seciton of the law 41 CrPC to arrest people and that too Goans and the coolies etc. I can challenge them the Goa Police to trace out the hiding terrorists from other states.

  2. This is downright shocking.

An investigation also needs to be launched into the connections these terrorists who were arrested in Cansaulim have with the builders and certain politicians who have unleashed a reign of terror over the locals. Some of these outside rogue elements have even been utilised to intimidate the villagers of Cansaulim who were protesting against these illegal mega-projects and were hauled in to launch attacks on the villagers.

Some of these North-Easterners were employed by Aboobakr Shaikh who is the kingpin of Queeny Realty Estates Aggy Alcacoas who is using the strength of his cousin Mauvin Godinho to break every rule in the book! They have been seen working on Mauvin Godinho's new pet Hotel Project that Aggy Alcacoas is constructing spilling right on the Birla-Cansaulim road.

An investigation needs to be launched as to how these terrorists have infiltrated into Cansaulim village and under who's protection. Likewise all these construction workers need to be interrogated and their backgrounds verified before allowing them to conntinue.

Shocking state of affairs in Goa!

  5. This is the whole and all intelligence of Goa police. They are saying that they are doing better than other agencies. If they are doing better than other agencies then how come they did not know anything about this Manipuri terrorist group hiding in Goa? Only when the police of that state come here and nab the terrorists our HAUGHTY and stupid Mahesh Gaonkar gives a statement just to show himself on the TV a show off. The Manipuri police did their job and a job well done. Goa police can really now GU KHA (eat Sh...t. Has Atmaram Deshpande got anything to say this?

  6. Oh Shyam, you do not know. Poor Atmaram Deshpande has to dance to the music that is played by Ravi Naik and his superioros. I know him Deshpande is a good person but he has to dance up and down to the tune of the dirty politicians of Goa including the buffalo Digamber Cowmuth. I SUGGEST THAT NIZ GOENKAR SHOULD INTERVIEW ATMARAM DESHPANDE.

  7. @Shyam Sawant, people have been referring these corrupt police fellows as Gua Pulis for decades for their ineffeciency, corruption and insincerity to the State. The criminals are in uniform, some criminals are in the Porvorim Jungle, some are staying in huge mansions with business interests looked after by these Gua Pulis who acts as salesmen for drugs. Some criminals are roaming freely in Hummers woth a Fiat. For Roy Naik, imagine how many salesmen are working in uniform. The latest is that they turned out to be killers too.
Maha-Mahanand is awaiting acquittal and now it is not hard to believe that police dumped more cases on his head to close files. This is the effeciency of our Gua Pulis.

India's biggest terrorist Batlo went scot free by fighting his own case without a lawyer from Goa. What a SHAME!

We are tired of narrating Atala's story, another SHAME!

  8. Joe you speak of Atmaram Deshpande as if he is a saint in Goa. He is another double faced devil just like the rest.

  9. Goa's law and order situation is alarming.

With criminal activities being openly promoted and indulged in by our politicians and police force no wonder all sorts of criminal minds and terrorists are now making Goa their base knowing that they will be able to get away with it. We now have International law enforcement arresting our absconding Israeli drug traffickers, Belgaum police having to investigate drug-pushing by Nepalis and our own Goan police and Manipur law agencies arresting Terrorist outfits in Cansaulim!

Our CM and ministers are happy singing and inviting criminals and terrorists from all over the world and India to set up drug trafficking, casinos, prostitution and other nefarious activities so that they can get their kick-backs.

For our politicians and police it's

"Come to Goa, Come to Goa,
    Goa Teri hai!
We'll give you land and a free hand
As long as those kick-backs are meri hai!"

  10. The villagers of Cansaulim must have been saved only by Remedios Saibinni who is watching what's happening and protecting them.

Our Goa Government and Ministers and the police are corrupt and useless. That is why we see all these criminals and terrorists and all the crime that is happening in Goa.

Read the rubbish that the ex-Sarpanch Cansaulim Jose Manuel is vomitting out in the Herald. Crooks like him have made their money from such criminals and now pose as Saviours of his village.

  11. Our Goa Government is known to promote criminal and terrorist elements for vote banks. Monte Hill is a classic case of how Digambar Kamat ran to cater to those terrorists. No wonder all these terrorists and criminals are rushing to Goa as they know they will be given the special welcome from the Goa Government and it's Minister be it Digambar, Mauvin Godinho, Monserrate or the rest.

  12. The PULF is allegedly funded by Pakistan's ISI agency and functions along the Bangladesh border.

What were they doing in Cansaulim all this time? Apparently some of them are employed in Cansaulim in various projects and investigations need to be carried out to their activities.

  13. One of Goa's most beautiful villages Cansaulim is now facing all sorts of evil elements be it terrorists, mega-projects illegally being promoted and other problems. The villagers need to watch out for these elements and be on their guard.

  14. Posting Vibha Verma's article in Herald which clearly says it all. Our Goa Government and police are responsible for all criminals and terrorists that are finding a safe haven in Goa.

    Wanted elsewhere, guests here

From Battlo to Shambu, militants get enough shelter and time in Goa
    VIBHA VERMA (Herald)
    PANJIM, JAN 22

This is how criminals surrender in Goa. Local ishtyle. In 2008, Orrisa’s most wanted criminal Raja alias Sandip Acharya called up from a coin phone box near Magsons Super Centre, Campal to police headquarters informing that he wanted to surrender. So what did the Goa police tell him? You are welcome. Please take a bus to the Panjim police station and meet us. Normally, it is the police who rush on getting such information.

Raja incidentally was wanted in 35-odd serious killings including the killing of marathon kid Budhia’s coach Biranchi Das. The Goa Police has no idea who Raja was and they didn’t care. Even a Google search would have helped.

Goa’s high profile tourists continue to arrive almost on an annual basis. Battlo, Shambu Beck and now the Manipur-based militants. Even David Headley, one of the main kingpins of the 26/11 attack in Mumbai came to Goa for a bit of sun and snooping. The Goa police didn’t have a clue.
The first ever major arrest of a terrorist in Goa was of Tariq Ahmed alias Battlo. The police record shows he was arrested at the Margao railway station when he was getting down from the train.

A big haul of RDX, hand-grenades and detonators were seized from him. Battoo, a fair tall man in his mid-30s, was with Tahreek-ul-Mujahideen, a militant organization.

The investigation of the case itself was loophole-ridden. The Chief Minister announced his “arrest” a good seven days before he was actually arrested.

The question mark was raised on whether Battlo was really arrested at the railway station or picked up earlier and his arrest shown later. Importantly, he lived in South Goa for a good four months before he was picked up.

Margao’s fast track court acquitted him and by the time Goa police could challenge his acquittal, he had already crossed the State borders. Now, he is beyond State police’s reach.
North Goa Sessions Court issued summons on him which was routed through Kashmir police but he has till date failed to appear.

Even the warrants issued against him have not helped to get him back for the case re-trial. Sources say that the Bombay High Court at Goa is likely to issue proclamation against Battlo.
And on May 6, 2010, Superintendent of Police Veenu Bansal and his team, who were actually supposed to track down
narcotics, were very busy. The arrest of scores of migrant labourers from Bhoma, Old Goa and Mapusa area hit the headlines the next day.

The wanted Mauvadi Trishu Manch (MTM) naxalite head Shambu Beck was arrested on a tip-off by Orissa police. The labourer-like looking Beck was in Goa for long and was wanted in several criminal activities back home.

Beck was happily living in lesser known Bhoma locality on Ponda-Panjim highway and got jobs in private firms as cover. No background checks were done by his employers.

The year 2011 itself began with the arrest of four Manipur-based militants including a high-profile woman. The arrest came after a tip off from Manipur police.

Ironically, the arrest came almost a month after State was on high alert. The militants had no real tension though. In fact, during the time of their arrest, they were all having a meal of fish curry and rice at a Cavelossim beach village.

  15. God alone knows how many more of these terrorists are lying low in Cansaulim and the rest of Goa. Some of them have been employed without any proof of their identity and verification.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Our CM and ministers keep saying there is no criminal activity, no drugs, no terrorism when they are the ones patronizing and enjoying their share of the spoils. How do you think they have got their ill-gotten wealth?

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Goa Government has failed in it's duty to protect the life and property of Goans. What do you think these criminal elements are doing sitting in Goa enjoying fun and feni? Our temples, Churches, homes are being burgled under the very eyes of the police. Drug traffickers are

  18. Many of the villagers of Cansaulim and neighbouring villages like Utorda and Majorda etc have reported that these terrorists were seen visiting other Manipuris and North-Easterners working on different construction sites, All these labourers working on the construction sites should be investigated into and their identity verified.

I saw the news on local channel in Goa, they are branded as terrorist as their Father is standing for election against current Minister who is corrupt, so thats why they put them or branded them as anti-National. This details were given on the local channel and the teens children were talking to the media. Now who know what is truth. Anything can happen in India, same Goa.
