PANJIM: Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has slapped a show cause notice on Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar for carrying out unauthorized development near the UNESCO world heritage site at Old Goa in violation of rules.
The MLA had allegedly demolished an old stone fence barely a few metres from the boundary wall of the church complex behind Bom Jesus Basilica recently. Subsequently, he commenced work on the construction of a concrete wall with a wire mesh fence, less than 100 m from the limits of the church complex.
"The development is in violation of ancient monuments and Archaeological sites and remains (amendment and validation) Act, 2010," an ASI source said. As per the amended Act, no development is allowed within 300 m from the boundary of a heritage monument protected by a central government department.
Confirming that the notice has been issued, V Shivananda Rao, superintending archaeologist of ASI Goa circle, said, "If he goes ahead with the work despite our notice, then we will have to adopt a future course of action." However, Rao did not spell out the details.
Sources said that the MLA had purchased a large plot on the western side of his residence opposite the church complex. "The felling of trees and clearing of vegetation, in addition to the demolition of the old wall has marred the heritage character of the place," the ASI source said. The mud and debris from the leveling activity was also dumped in the roadside drain.
While pointing out that Old Goa was a walled city with inner and outer fortifications, a source said, "The old rubble stone walls look more natural than concrete fences in the heritage area."
"The old laterite stone wall was aesthetically blending with the ambience of the complex," the ASI source added. The ASI had issued a notice to Madkaikar earlier in the same matter, but he had stopped the work then and the matter ended there, the source said.
Copies of the notice have been forwarded to the North Goa collector, director general of ASI in Delhi and other authorities. Development activity around the heritage church complex has shrunk the green buffer zone around it, altering its eco-heritage ambience, heritage lovers have alleged. (TNN)
Madkaikar is the biggest thief of Goa. He has not only robbed Old Goa but has also sold Vanxim island to non-goans for a golf course. People of Jua, Divar, Old Goa and Corlim open your eyes and see the true colours of Madkaikar. Never vote for him again.

@Trevor... This Madkaikar was a gonvddo (mason). He first got elected on MGP ticket and then joined the BJP. The BJP gave him crores of rupees to support them. Chorchill then enticed him to the Congress with crores of rupees and the post of a minister. This Gonvddo Madkaikar then joined the Congress.

Now this gonvddo wants to become a minister again by saying that he is a scheduled caste. He is one no doubt as he is a gawdi.But my argument is the constituency that he is elected from, that is Cumbarjua, is not reserved for Scheduled Castes. So on what basis is he saying that he represents the Scheduled castes and that he should be made a minister again?
Now as he represents the people from Zua (San Estevam), Divar, Old Goa, Corlim, Gaundalim, I have a feeling that all of them are also gaudis like him. If they are not gaudis like him, then they must be his crumb eaters. That is why they elect him.

I remember some years ago an article in a newspaper in Goa about Pandurang Madkaikar and how he used to call young girls to hotels and other places on the pretext of interviews and giving jobs.Some people say he has a mistress in Chodan, a married Christian from Gavonna. ReplyDeleteThis b..t..d is number one Chor, the seller of church properties. Let me narrate a recent incident that happened during my Christmas/New Year vacation in Goa. My neighbour in Malar (Divar) got married at St. Mathias Church, Malar, and the wedding reception was held at Cotta Mansion in Agacaim. There were plenty of guests, people were walking in and out all the time. Nobody bothered who was who as it was a mixed crowd. The bride is Goan but settled in Germany so there was lot of crowd from Germany too. It was a grand reception and everyone was enjoying. Suddenly there was a big hue and cry and I saw this lembddo, crumb eater and arse licker Mario Pinto rushing to the groom and groom’s father who were enjoying the reception entertaining their close friends (including me) and practically pulling them away from us to a table at the far end. What was this all about? I wondered and saw this Madkaikar seated at that table with 5 or 6 other crumb eaters. Instead of this b..t..d going to meet and wish the groom and his family, this arse Mario Pinto practically dragged them to meet Mdkaikar. This was a private function and if Madkaikar and Mario were the invitees, they should have had the courtesy to go and wish the groom and his family and not drag them to wish Madkaikar. It was a real fiasco and a sickening sight. I told my wife, I regretted very much for not carrying my camera with me. Usually I carry my camera everywhere, but this being a private function I did not carry it. I did not expect this drama would unfold. God only knows how many incidents of this kind happens with high respect being given to these Chors and total disrespect to the hosts. If I had got some pictures, I would publish them on Niz Goenkar. Still I will try to get some if I can. Like Fadte has rightly said, these lembddes like Mario Pinto and Philip from Divar and one Manuel from Vanxim are real stray dogs who follow this Madkaikar everywhere to eat the crumbs he is throwing their way, without even realizing what they are doing to their own Mother, our Mother Goa. Curse be upon you guys.

It’s soccer mania days, and Goa’s Sports Minister, Mr Pandurang Madkaikar, and his minions are making the most of their official positions to gift themselves an all-expenses paid trip to –where else – Germany and World Cup 2006.

Mr Madkaikar is leading a five-member delegation on a “study tour” of Germany “with the objective”, says his office, “of studying the infrastructure and standard of sports in Germany”.
Yes of course, they will be watching quite a few World Cup matches on the sidelines of their tour.
Earlier plans to include two other ministers, Digamber Kamat and Subhash Shirodkar, besides Congress MLA Alex Sequeira, in the official delegation went awry after news of the state-sponsored jaunt leaked to the local media.
Mr Sequeira told this newspaper he had no idea his name figured in the privileged list.
“I was away in Portugal on business and am not planning on going for the World Cup.”
Power Minister Kamat and Panchayat Minister Shirodkar are said to have opted out after the media leak.
The World Cup jamboree will see the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) shell out over Rs 6 lakh on its delegation.
Apart from former footballers Brahmanand Sancoalcar and Bruno Coutinho, the Goa delegation takes with it SAG director V M Prabhudesai and treasurer Mario Pinto.
This Mario Pinto thinks he owns the whole of Divar and Divadkars. Again during my holiday this year, while crossing the ferry from Old Goa to Divar, this a%$#@??ole was in the same ferry with his 4WD, I'm sure a gift from Madkaikar. Since there was no regular bus to be seen at Divar end and this crumb eater was alone in his vehicle without any passengers, an old lady went and asked him politely if he could give her a lift. He told her just to wait like all the other people do. The bus will come soon. A social worker or Madkaikar's arse licker??? I can write a whole book about him and his family, but I don't like to bring or talk about dead people. So be it. This fellow has put on so much weight that he is going to explode very soon to bits and pieces.
