TENSION RUN HIGH AT MONTE DONGOR AGAIN

MARGAO: Tension prevailed at Monte Dongor late Sunday night after rival groups once again clashed, this time at Arlem. One person sustained injuries during the scuffle.  Sources informed that clashes broke out between two rival groups at Arlem late Sunday evening over some issue that led to the violence, leaving one Amin Bhavar, injured.
He was rushed to Hospicio Hospital, Margao, where he is undergoing treatment. Police sources informed that Bhavar was badly beaten with a hockey stick by Maqbool Shirsi and six others, and he suffered injuries on various parts of his body. Maina Curtorim police have booked a case on charges of rioting and other offences against seven accused including Shirsi.
The other six accused are—Muktar Shaikh, Margan Shirsi, Maqbool Riyaz, Hazrat Ali, Navshad Shirsi and Hasan Kaji Mulla. Press persons were, however, denied entry into the hospital. It may be noted that the Monte Dongor group clashes have their roots in civic poll-related rivalry. The latest incident is the fourth such after the municipal elections and comes barely a month after the last such incident that had left at least six persons injured. Significantly, Bhawar who was injured in Sunday's attack was one of the seven accused arrested in the Monte Dongor assault case of December 28, 2010. Basheer Shaikh had later surrendered to Margao police.
Incidentally the latest assault comes just a day after Basheer and four others were released on bail by the additional sessions court. (TNN)

  1. It is time to take back our once peaceful land. These politically backed Non-Goan Gangs must be kicked out of Goa before Goa turns into a Non Goan Islamic battle ground.

as I have said in earlier comments, this is just the begining.A festering problem
Perhaps when a few lives are sacrificed, through murder ,will there be temporary peace. But that too is doubtful.

Kamat has brought this menace, upon the residents of Margao , Goa and himself.
Mauvin Godinho will see his mob in a similar situstion not far from now.
As soon any Court case or Prosecutions start, there will surely be more fireworks.
