DIGNEM-SURLA RESIDENTS BLOCK MINING ROADS

BICHOLIM: The residents of Dignem-Surla in the Bicholim taluka sore over the uncontrolled dust pollution staged a rasta roko in their village, on Monday.  The traffic on the road stretch from Onda to Velguem-Pale was blocked.
As the police got the information about the agitation, they rushed to the spot and blockade on Sonashi-Khodgine Surla road stretch was cleared. However, they were unsuccessful in clearing the blockade on Onda-Velguem road and as such the traffic was affected for about four hours.
When one junior officer of mining company came to the spot for negotiations, the villagers turned aggressive and demanded that the senior officers should come down for discussion.  According to the residents of Dignem–Surla, they had to launch the agitation as the demands placed before the Bicholim mamlatdar, deputy collector and other concerned authorities have not been considered.
They also alleged that Kudne sarpanch too did not pay attention to their demand. The residents claimed that they have to face dust pollution, which is affecting their health.  The agitators withdrew their agitation after the assurance was given by Kudne sarpanch, Mr Naveen Falkar, that the issue would be discussed at the joint meeting of residents, officials of mining company and government authorities, within a couple of days.

  2. This is the right time for the people of Goa to teach a lesson for the 40 corrupt leaders who destroyed Goa. Everything should be burnt, even their Luxury Cars and also the rubbish development they did for their own gain .The people of South Goa must follow what the people of Dignem-Surla did before it is too late.
