PANJIM: A division bench of Bombay High Court adjourned hearing on a petition filed on behalf of the Raj Bhavan here, challenging the order of Goa State Information Commission till April 28, directing that the matter be heard by a single judge only.
The petition was filed by Goa Governor S S Sidhu''s special secretary N Radhakrishnan challenging the March 31st order of the Goa State Information Commission directing the Raj Bhavan to produce information under RTI Act as sought by advocate Airis Rodrigues by April 30.
Rodrigues had sought details under RTI about action taken on his complaint against Advocate General of Goa Subodh Kantak. The bench, comprising of Justice S C Dharmadhikari and Justice F M Reis while posting the hearing on the petition to April 28 directed that such petitions be heard by a single judge only.
Goa Raj Bhavan had requested that the matter be placed before a division bench. The state chief information commissioner Motilal Keny in his order had ruled that Goa Governor was a "public authority" and falls under the purview of RTI. However, Raj Bhavan insisted that the office of Governor was not a public authority and is not bound by RTI. – PTI
