CAVREM VILLAGERS BLOCKS MINING TRUCKS

MARGAO: In a brave move that deserves applaud the tribal villagers of Cauvrem village, supported by the Cauvrem Adavasi Bacccho Samiti, on Thursday, blocked mining trucks from five mines transporting mining ore.  The villagers said that this is the only road used by five villages and in spite of several request and pleas to the authorities to broadened and repair the road, nothing has been done in this regard.
On Thursday, trucks believed to be overloaded from five mines of Cauvrem and Minor breached a rule that restricts them from transporting ore after 4.30 p.m. and started to leave the mines which agitated the villagers. The Quepem Collector, Mr Agnelo Fernandes, mamlatdar, police inspector of Quepem, Sanguem and Curchorem and senior RTO officials and police posse rushed to the scene as tempers were reaching boiling point.  Finally, the Collector sent the trucks back to the mines. A villager said that this is just the beginning of the agitation.
