MICKKY PACHECHO SENTENCED TO ONE YEAR IMPRISONMENT FOR ASSAULTING JUNIOR ENGINEER

PANJIM: Former Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Mickey Pacheco was on Wednesday sentenced to one-year imprisonment for assaulting a junior engineer of the state electricity department.  Judicial Magistrate First Class in Margao town ordered the imprisonment, which was suspended for 30 days, allowing Pacheco to appeal in the higher court. Pacheco, an NCP legislator, had been arrested in connection with the death of his lady friend Nadia Torrado last year.
In the current case, he had assaulted junior engineer Kapil Natekar by calling him in his office on July 16, 2006. Police, in their charge sheet, said that Pacheco had also threatened the junior engineer with dire consequences.
Pacheco, however, had denied the charges claiming that the allegations were politically motivated.  The former minister has been in news for wrong reasons several times, including during the investigation by CBI against him for allegedly trafficking humans beings in the United States. – PTI

  1. Woh, the picture of Mickey looks like he is crying. Why did the judge gave him a suspended sentence? Even Suresh kalmadi is directly sent to CBI jail. This person should be in the jail forever as he is a threat to humanity and young women.

Every Goan minister either directly or indirectly has blood on their hands. This is a result of we Goans re-electing the same Idiots to power, we are in the 21st century and the Political parties are selecting illiterate candidates. The parties are as corrupt as the candidates. These ministers have tarnished the name of Goa.

  3. All the remaining corrupt politicians on whom cases are pending must also meet the same fate. Why keep his sentence suspended and give him a chance is not understood. Is it because he is a politician? Will the Judge do the same for the common man?

    Hi Anthony:
As per Election rules, Mickky has to be convivted & impriosened for 2 years to bar him from contesting.
As he has only 1 year imprisonment, he will be allowed to contest an election.
But do not lose hope. Mickky has other Court cases coming up.He has the Gambling /extortion case and the Nadia case. There are one or two other ,which I cannot remember just now.

To Anish: Had this been a common man, he would most definetly been jailed and then asked to raise an Appeal.
I think (my opinion), that Mickky & Monserattes case will be heard hopefully quite soon.
The pleasure we the public must take, is that they will be much older & weaker and prison will be the place where they will pay the price for their crimes. It will be much more for them to cope with prison life in old age.
If they get long sentences ,they may walk out of of jail with walking sticks and grey hair /beards.
Assaulting Policemen and a Police Station is a very serious crime. It is sometimes refered to as a "Capital Offence".

If you see in the picture the ring round his thumb, it should be round his neck.
