SUPPORT N. SHIVDAS by Ramesh Naik

Sir,
I proudly take this opportunity to Congratulate Shri. N. Shivdas for taking this bold step in publishing his poem in title “Chedi”.
On the other hand “Bailancho Ekvot” chief Smt. Auda Viegas along with the other Supremo’s has drastically criticized the poet, asking for an apology. I would have agreed with you Auda, only if there was a set criteria for a poet. If you are igniting fire over a small issue than I wonder what was your reaction when the movie “Dum Maro Dum” was filmed in Goa, and your contribution towards imposing a ban on this movie? Looks like “Bailancho Ekvot” team will burn Cinema houses all over the country, as Goan girls are also shown exploited in this movie.
Ponder for a while “BE” chief and other dignitaries, there are many issues to deal with when it comes to protect the image of Goan girls.
Also if possible try to stop the vulgar double meaning comedy in Tiatrs. Many people feel it embarrassing to watch the tiatr with their kids.
I wonder if anybody turns ‘Off’ or Breaks their TV if there is a kissing scene going on in a Hindi movie. Requesting to tear of the page from the book is an insult to the writer and his feelings. By doing this we will definitely setup a bad example to the youth.
I request all writes to join hands and support Shri N. Shivdas
If one gets insulted then one should not read this poem. Please leave the writer and his Poem alone. It reminds me of a song by Bob Marley in titled “Who the cap fit should wear it!”
Thanking you.
Yours truly,
(RAMESH NAIK)

  1. Ramesh Naik I am in agreement with you, we are in the 21st century, leaving in the most corrupt state in the world. If the movie "Dum Maro Dum" could not be banned in Goa for insulting Goans. I see no reason to pick on The poet N. Shivdas for writing "Chedi". I certainly will read it at the first opportunity I get.
I suggest these organizations pick on the worst issues in Goa, as crime and corruption is rampant in Goa Some of it with the blessing of politicians.

    Hi Ramesh:
I agree with your article, specially your last paragraph.
Salman Rushdie had a similar problem with his book called "Satanic Verses".
A fatwa was issued on him by the Ayatolla of Iran.
However Salman Rushdie has lived for yet another day and the book has been widely read following alll the controversial publicity.
There was a similar outcry on the "da vinci code".But this too has out lived the opposition.
I am sure this controversy will soon die down.So will the one on Dum Maro Dum.
what will still plague us Goans is the Corrupt Government.
Perhaps We should concentrate all our energies on the Lokayut Bill ,and, of immediate concern the Medium of Instruction. This 2 issues most definitely affect our lives manifold.

  4. These Bailancho groups are there only to make noise where it is not required. Where things are serious they look the other way or distract your accusations by pointing at something else. It is reliably learnt that Auda's one daughter has left her husband and is with her child. She gives tutions to young boys and then blackmails them saying that she'll make police complaint that the boy molested her. She has had several victims who have paid her in tens of thousands. This needs to be first investigated and published and she put behind bars. Do you think Auda does not know what her daughter is doing?

Shivdas is the one who has opposed English as a medium of instruction. Incidentally, he opposes to even recognise Konkani in the Roman script. He is a communal guy. I believe Konkani has to grow. Giving it dual script status has to be done.
