POLITICS – A FAMILY BUSINESS by Willie Menino Severes, Majorda (Dubai)

A Politician should be a person, honest and straightforward, having the charisma and hunger to do something for the people of his/her State and Country. But, right now Goa has been going through a period of shameful politicians and disastrous political culture which is affecting the life and living of the Aam Admi in the state.
Today’s corrupt politicians have become so rich, most of them have become huge business barons too, where these business are done to convert their money into legal money. They drive cars which no one can afford, live in posh mansions, all at the cost of the taxpayer.
With the growing greed for riches, politicians are now getting their kith and kin into politics. Why would minister’s children having respected professions such as a Pilot and an Advocate join Politics? Why would a minister’s wife be the village sarpanch or a councilor? Do they see a burning desire to dedicate their lives for the service of the common man? So what is their interest? Most of us will want want our children to be doctors, engineers etc so that they become successful and respectable citizens of the society. But our politicians want their children and spouses to join politics, so it stays all in the family. Power and money has become the name of the game, of our today’s MLA’s and Ministers. Family dynasty is the order of the day.
It is time we as Goans understand the priorities for Goa and Goans, and not to fall prey to the false promises of our Politicians. Our politicians are here to further inflate their riches and finish off our God given resources in the name of development. Politics should not be a family business. So think hard and elect wisely, or there will be a day we Goans could be outsiders in our own land.
And, before I sign off, a reminder to our politicians, about what the Bible says about, Honesty and Truth
Proverbs 11:3 - "Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people."

The words honesty ,straightforward , charisma and shame has been wiped out of Goan political system. It is replaced with licence to commit crime and corruption and deal with drugs.

It is high time our politicians' kith and kin - wives, sons, daughters - should dedicate themselves to their respective professions and advance in their careers, rather than impose themselves on the voters in order to follow in their father's footsteps. In fact, it is time for the fathers to step down and make place for new faces, from other families, not their own.

  3. The children of our polticians are stupid like their parents; they may have DEGREES all take by bribe. If they were really inteligents than tey would have been in their own fields.

  4. Politics in Goa is the best business. I can see the spoilt children of these politicians can drive BMW's and Mercs as seen on the roads on a daily basis. They do know that their parents are chors and nagoune enjoying on poor man's bread by looting Goa. they will not protest or else from where will they enjoy this luxury? Nowadays, the children of the Goan politicians has turned to prostitution, gambling in casinos, looting, money collection for ransom, drug sellers, rapists and what not. Big Lippy is the collector of Goa assigned to collect hafta from every PWD contractors and others who does business in Goa.

I think Pigs have more beautiful &proportioned Lips, than Valanka.
Her lips look like a disfigurement.

The luxury cars these children of theiving politicians drive, is fuelled by the blood & sweat of honest Goans.
The hobbies and extra curricular activities of these Politician Children, like prostitution and gambling is actually a curse. But they do not comprehend it like that.
The money collection is a Moral, their parentshave instilled & imparted to their children. In the days of Jesus Christ, such illegal tax collectors were killed.
In the case of Valanka it goes by the name of Commission.
In the case of Monserate it is called extortion.
In the case of Ravi Naki , it is called Drug use excise Duties.
