PANJIM: Goa’s only politician Mr Shantaram Naik as so far been raising his voice on most of the Goan issues. Be it against the Indian Navy or be it Dum Maro Dum. Rest of Goa’s politicians appear to have been already bribed by the producers of the controversial film Dum Maro Dum.
Raj Sabha MP Shantaram Naik has said that the decision of the producers/exhibitors of Hindi feature film, Dum Maro Dum to retain the objectionable dialogues in the film to be exhibited in foreign countries, is an anti-national act.
In a letter faxed by him, on Tuesday, to Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambica Soni, Naik said “the producers/exhibitors are fooling the people of Goa and the State government, by indirectly saying that they would now defame and denigrate Goa and Goan women only on foreign soil.”
The producers/exhibitors, it appears, have no regard for the people of the country and their dignity. Money is the only criteria in their mind, Naik said in his letter to Mrs Soni.
It may be recalled that Mrs Soni had got the objectionable dialogues deleted after receiving the letter from Naik on April 9. The Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Deva Reddy had telephonically informed Naik of the same.
In his fresh letter to Mrs Soni, Naik stated that “although the dialogues have been modified, the producers/exhibitors are going to retain the dialogues in the film prints which are going to be distributed overseas, which is unacceptable to the people of Goa.”
Naik said the Central government should revise the decision of the Central Board of Film Certification with respect to Dum Maro Dum and, pending the decision of the Central government in revision proceedings, to declare the film as uncertified and suspend its exhibition as per the clear provisions contained in section 6 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952.
It appears that persuasive methods do not work with these people, Naik said. The MP in his letter said that as per the guidelines issued under section 5(B) (2) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, visuals or words involving defamation of an individual or a body of individuals, or scenes that may endanger public order are not to be allowed.
Scenes degrading or denigrating women in any manner are specifically prohibited as per the guideline and that, the producer has to ensure that human sensibilities are not offended by vulgarity, obscenity or depravity, Naik said.
These guidelines are not merely India specific. Indian producer of film should not be so anti-national in their approach, as to disregard law of the land and embrace law of the foreign land, Naik said. Naik has raised his voice and actually be supported by the present ruling party to ban the film in every aspect in Goa says the public of Goa.
I f the Goa govrnment allows the film to screen in Goa than the public should set the theatre on fire and should not allow any mollywood films in Goa.
ReplyDeleteYes Shantaram Naik does something better than the 40 chors of Goa. Shantaram challenges a lot of things bad for Goa in the Parliament. But the dirty congress of Nehru does not listen to the voice of a lone Goan. The other MP of Goa is an useless good for nothing idiot and donkey who is silent on all the issues. Good job Shantaram, keep on fighting for Goa and I am sure you can do something to get Goa the Special Status as Goa's 40 thieves will not do that as they will lose fat income.
ReplyDeleteYes Joe, absolutely correct what you have said, other Pro-Maratha MP from North is useless dumb ars..hle who never ever spoke anything in favour of Goa. He's dummy MP representing only for Marathi people from North and I can say he must be only interested in personal wealth for self and family. At least Shantaram Naik raises some concern in parliament on behalf of Goa, however as you said one voice holds lack of weight. But this BJP idiot bas...rd nobody even know he is there or not. He's is good to entertain VIP's from Maharashtra.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Mr Shantaram Naik raise his voice when the powers that should vest on the Panchayat and the Gram Sabha are transferred and vested on the bureaucracy? Someone has just whispered in my ear that he depends on the FORTY for his re-election.
ReplyDeleteI am referring to the case of the Cansaulim Gram Sabha, also brought out in this blogspot, wherein I also offered my comments.
