SERVILITY OR SELF-RELIANCE? by John Menezes, Bombay

During 450 years under Portuguese rule, Goa retained systemic order in its grass-root mini-republics dating from Vedic times which died out elsewhere in the Indian subcontinent but prospered in Goa.
Till the conquest and subjugation of Goa (words used by the Supreme Court of India) in the landmark judgement referred to earlier on the same issue, there was an ongoing devolution of power to the locals to the extent that before the Indian army marched into Goa, Damao and Diu, the judiciary was 100 per cent Goan and the civil administration and the police were 99 per cent Goan. There was even talk of a Goan Governor General in the person of Dr Armando Goncalves Pereira.
Today there is a visible evolution towards the de-Goanisation of Goa. Heads of administrative departments are no longer Goans, and neither are the judiciary and the police under Goan direction or exclusively Goan. The day can indeed be visualised when the Goa legislature will be non-Goan dominated, and when the Goans are reduced to a minority.

  2. Goans are a minority as we Goans have become greedy and are letting the wanna be Goans in. All the Indian riff raff has to be pushed out of Goa. I have seen with my own eyes how these animals come packed in a jeep and get drunk and sleep on the beach. I have seen them going through their morning self cleaning duties on the shore. They even go to the extent of passing a quick wink and a whistle to our local women and our boys just let it happen as these guys throw money around. We have to change ourselves first and then unite to wash Goa of this filth. Bring down the current illiterate political louts and make them pay for ruining Goa. Account them for every penny they have stolen from us and utilise it to make Goa self reliant and for Goenkars as before.

  3. Goa is for Goans! Baizuan Kamat has brought his illegitimate family and housed them at Monti Dongor. We have to chase the Bailott and his followers out of our homeland. He only knows to lick these ghantti back sides and stay in power. Lets rock his chair this elections and once he is a commoner then we will deal with him in our own time. Now he is the Cheap Minister and after coming elections he will be aam aadmi because he is not gonna win... Janta ki adalat is waiting for you Kamat..
