MIGRANT HOTEL OWNER REMANDED TO JUDICIAL CUSTODY FOR ASSAULTING MINOR WITH A KNIFE

PONDA: The children's court on Tuesday remanded Vishwas Balkrishna Shetty, who had allegedly assaulted his minor waiter with a harvest knife, to 14 days of judicial custody.   Shetty, a hotel owner from Ponda, was arrested on Monday for alleged child abuse under Goa Children's Act and for causing grievous hurt to the minor. The 16-year-old victim had lodged a complaint with the Ponda police against the hotel owner.
The police produced Shetty before the court and sought his remand for further investigation of the case. Ponda police sub-inspector Nikhil Palekar said the boy, who had sustained severe injuries on his hands and back, has been treated at Ponda ID (infectious diseases) hospital and he is now out of danger.
It may be recalled that annoyed over the boy's absence from the duty for two days, Shetty had allegedly stabbed the minor boy with a harvest knife in a room provided by the accused at Shantinagar in Ponda . The minor was working at Shetty's 'Udupi Coffee House' at Ponda's old bus stand.
