PANJIM: The draft Goa Educational Policy 2011 submitted to the State Government on Monday has been referred back to Directorate of Higher Education to work out its financial implications, sources stated. The sources in the State secretariat said that Education Secretary has referred the file back to Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Nayak, who will have to work financial liability, once the policy is implemented in totality.
The Draft Educational Policy titled as Goa State Integrated Education Policy, 2011 deals with the planning of education in the state – right from Kindergarten (KG) to Post Graduation (PG).
Sources stated that the policy is a fool-proof document that guides the way; Goa should decide its educational framework. Although content of the policy are kept under wraps, it is understood that the policy suggests that the elementary education should be done in mother tongue in the State.
The policy, which was supposed to be submitted little earlier, was delayed following cropping up of Right to Education (RTE) Act. Sources stated that the policy is framed considering the RTE implementation in the State. The draft policy which was circulated to all the stakeholders including all the 40 members of Legislative Assembly had only two legislators responding with suggestions.
