PANJIM: Demanding removal of the Minister for Education, Mr Atanasio Monserrate from the state cabinet, before the commencement of the assembly session on March 5, for his alleged involvement in ‘smuggling of foreign currency’ out of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said that the number of recent visits by Mr Monserrate to Dubai, the reason for these visits and the source of huge amount of money confiscated from him should be probed.
The leader of the opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar, addressing a press conference at the BJP city headquarters said that any cabinet minister, while the assembly session in progress, can go abroad only after taking permission from the Chief Minister, or intimating the Governor. "It should be made known whether the Education Minister had been granted such permission by the Chief Minister," he added.
Stating that the particular case pertains to the violation of a provision in the Customs Act, which prevents smuggling of foreign currency, Mr Parrikar predicted that efforts would now be made to save the Minister for Education by diluting the case, and restricting it to Foreign Exchange Maintenance Act (FEMA). "The BJP will not only raise this issue in the assembly, but would also take it to national level through national leaders of the party," he added.
Maintaining that this is not the first time that the criminal nature of the Minister for Education has been exposed, the leader of the opposition said that the present incident, wherein Mr Monserrate has been detained is a new chapter of his criminal record. "And a person holding education portfolio getting involved in such a case is a very serious matter, especially as education does not mean only medium of instruction but morality, social obligation and intelligence," he added.
Replying to a question, the leader of the opposition said that in case of the arrest/ detaining of a minister, when the House is in session, the Speaker of the legislative assembly should be informed about the same within 24 hours. The president of the state unit of BJP, Mr Laxmikant Persekar and the spokesperson of the party in Goa, Mr Rajendra Arlekar were also present at the briefing.
The assests of Goan traitors in Dubai receiving gratification and rewards by visits from others like Chorchill too should be probed and made known. Do you agree with my point Mr. Benedict Lobo?
ReplyDeleteI don't trust all these monkeys, it could also be that The tree cutter Babush was carrying Parrikar's money to Dubai and as Babush is caught he is angry for loosing his hard earned robed money. It was Parrikar who brought Babush to the Political show, although he knew that Babush was corrupt.
ReplyDeleteI believe that a tree has a soul, when one cuts a tree for other peoples benefit the tree understands, but when one cuts a tree for ones profit, the soul takes its revenge.
Why is this BJP after the Monster Rat? He is the guy who has a few lakhs of rupees (including Parrikar's), and not crores. The Rat must have had to pay a handsome bribe to the Customs to let him off and in the bargain Parrikar lost his share. So he is fuming now!!! Is that it Mr. Parrikar??? Be careful of the Monster Rat. He will expose anyone who turns against him. So don't think you are safe with your crores stashed away. You have made fools of the public for a long time. Now you are making fools of yourselves.
ReplyDeletethis monster rat fooled many people of talegao into forcibly selling and giving up their precious land cause this monster rat always plays the land acquisition card and thus frightening goans. it is time goans stand up and rise against any further land acquisitions by ministers for revenge purpose or for personal gains.
ReplyDeletethis monster rat is happy that he has converted talegao into a posh locality with delhi babus occupying most of bungolows.
the mathematics is simple ,just catch any goan land owner, threaten him to give up land and then this monster rat develops it and sells the maruti for the price of mercedes benz.
land in goa is worth more than money.this corrupt ministers have made a mockery of our beloved land by first acquiring it and then gifting it to the highest bidder. this monster rat has made money the same way and he has done this with the help of corrupt drug peddler policemen who sell drugs to public confiscated by court .
the courts in goa are without teeth and are also run by corrupt drug mafia home minister ravi gonda naik.
