FISH MONGERS CLOSE DOWN FOR THE DAY

VASCO: The fishing business in the port town of Vasco will be closed on Friday with the Khariawaddo Affected People (KAP) requesting the fishing community to extend their support to protest against the recent demolition of Khariawaddo houses.
The fishing community in Khariawaddo, Desterro and Baina beaches will shut down their activities. The Vasco fish market will also remain closed. While some sources said that the closure will be for two days, others informed that until the state government finds a solution to the problem of Khariawaddo people, the business won't resume.
On Thursday evening, fish vendors were seen telling their customers that fish will not be available from Friday.
However, when contacted, Simon Pereira, president of Goa Boat Owner's Association, said he knew nothing about the strike. Atul Jadhav, the president of Goa Barge Owners Association, said, "We have not been intimated about it and our business will go on."
