CYCLIST DIES KNOCKED DOWN BY OVERSPEEDING MARUTI CAR

PANJIM: A 63-year-old cyclist succumbed to injuries in Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim (GMC) after a speeding Maruti Swift car on Sunday morning knocked him down at Siolim. Ramesh Rama Bandekar, a resident of Camurlim, was riding his cycle in Siolim at 9.30am on Sunday when Sharif Shiraz Dodamani came speeding in his car from behind and dashed into Bandekar's cycle.
The impact of the collision was so powerful that Bandekar was knocked down instantly and was seriously injured. He was shifted to GMC by the Anjuna police where he died while undergoing treatment. Dodamani, a resident of Agasaim, is yet to be arrested. However, his vehicle was seized by the police and the accused was booked for accidental death.
