RS 9 CRORE HANDED OVER TO CIPL TO BUY 84 NEW BUSES UNDER GBR SCHEME

PANJIM: Minister for social welfare and transport Ramkrishna Dhavlikar recently handed over a cheque for ` 9,02,41,620 to the general manager of Chowgule Industries Private Limited N B Khandeparkar towards the purchase of 84 buses under the scheme Gomant Bal Rath implemented by the department of social welfare.
N B Narvekar, director of social welfare, assistant director Santan Fernandes and Harish Sawant, sales manager of Chowgule Industries Private Limited, were present on the occasion.
It may be recalled that chief minister Digambar Kamat had given an assurance in the assembly session that buses will also be given to the government schools along with aided schools in the state. Out of 84 buses 74 buses will be given to the government schools and 9 buses to the government higher secondary schools in the state. The transport minister said that by the end of May 2011 all 84 buses will be given to the concerned schools.  Earlier, the department had given a cheque for ` 2 crore to the Chowgule company for another 21 buses for aided schools and 6 buses for schools running for special children.
