Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia’s has rightly expressed great concern about judges frequently socializing with particular members of the legal profession. In Goa we all know of that High Court judge a few years ago who did over socialize with some advocates.
He was even frequently seen late nights at the bar lounge of the International Centre at Dona Paula. Less said the better about his further socializing with a then High Court Public Prosecutor at her Government quarters. The Chief Justice is very right when he says that such conduct on the part of judges is certain to raise suspicion that the judge is susceptible to undue influence in the discharge of his duties. Those who cannot endure the rigours of the job should not be presiding over the temples of justice.
