REPORT ON FORGERY BY DAYANAND NARVEKAR SUBMITTED BY THE PANEL

PANJIM: Education Ministry’s panel formed to investigate the fake birth certificate issue of Goa Cricket Association President Dayanand Narvekar’s son, Ganeshraj, has submitted its interim report to the government.
Sources stated that the panel headed by then Education Secretary P Acharya has said that the department cannot take action against Ganeshraj as police are already investigating into the matter.
Education Director, Celsa Pinto was not available for comments. Her office said that ‘madam will not speak to the media as there is Election Code of Conduct.’
The State Government in the first week of January had formed the panel headed by Acharya with three others including education director, members from the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on it.
The committee’s mandate was to check whether Ganeshraj got the admission by forged certificate and also to check whether he enjoyed undue benefit in academic with forged certificates. Former GCA executive member Dr Shekhar Salkar had filed the complaint against Ganeshraj with Mapusa police and also with the Education Department citing that he had forged his birth certificates to get admission in school and also to play under 15 cricket tourneys.
Reacting to the Education Department’s interim report, Dr Salkar said that Education Department officials have no guts to act against Narvekar’s political might. “If Goa University can take action against the professors responsible for MBBS marks scam then why action can’t be taken in this matter? In case of MBBS scam, there is a parallel case with Old Goa police but still university had its own inquiry and came out with the report,” he added.
Mapusa police had registered a case against Ganeshraj, his father Dayanand Narvekar, mother Sushma and others under Sections 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of IPC.
Dr Salkar had alleged that Narvekar registered his son’s birth at two places - Pilerne and Mapusa.
The birth certificate issued by the Pilerne Panchayat states that Ganesh Raj Dayanand Narvekar was born on February 28, 1993, the birth registration was done in November 1994, and a live birth report was attached by Chodankar nursing home stating that Ganesh Raj was born at the hospital.
Another birth certificate was registered in January 1995, with the Mapusa Municipality, under Ganesh Raj Dayanand Narvekar, and showing the date of birth as February 28, 1993.
