CIPRIANO MURDER CASE POSTPONED:GEORGINA NUNES HOSPITALISED

PANJIM: Georgina Nunes, girlfriend of Moira resident Cipriano Fernandes who allegedly died in police custody moved an application before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Panjim on Monday stating she could not depose in the matter due to her health problems.
Georgina told the Court that she was hospitalised for low-blood pressure and doctors advised her to take rest. The magistrate adjourned the hearing in the matter to February 23.
Georgina, who worked on a cruise ship, had said she had seen police beating Cipriano, who subsequently succumbed to his injuries in the Goa Medical College and Hospital.  The death of Cipriano has raked up much heat with the police image coming in for severe beating. Three police personnel, including PI Sandesh Chodankar, were suspended for the unfortunate incident.
Crime Branch registered an FIR in the case after pressure was mounted by the NGO’s and other social activists and the heavy outcry from the public against the police personnel who actually beat Cipriano to death in police custody. However, no arrests have been made till date in spite of the charges of murder and destruction of evidence being serious offence. The Goa Police have destroyed the evidence and have cleaned up the place with the collaboration of the top and high ranking officers.

  1. Appears everyone calls in sick when they have truth snare at them in their face. The case of Georgina is nothing new. Face the crime for which you have been the main cause. You are a part to the crime may be not physically but by your actions which resulted into the arrest, ultimate torture which ultimately lead to the death of Cipriano.
