ALL MEGA PROJECTS OPPOSED BY CAVELOSSIM GRAM SABHA

MARGAO: The gram sabha of Cavelossim village panchayat was convened on Sunday morning, and saw debates and discussions on various issues concerning the village.  One of the main issues discussed was that water tanks distributed by the PWD should be done so to the poor and needy families and to those who are economically backward.
The members suggested that the chair write to the government, to ensure that these water tanks reach to those families who needed them the most.
Another important issue discussed was mega housing and hotel projects in the village, with the members suggesting that the chair not consider any more big housing projects and hotels in the village. The sarpanch agreed to this suggestion.
A resolution was also adopted not to allow repairing or maintenance work to be carried out on boats and fishing vessels, in the village or on the seashore of Cavelossim, as it causes nuisance, pollution and also causes an influx of migrant workers, which creates a risk to the safety and security of the villagers.
The gram sabha members also passed a resolution opposing the licences granted to conduct events and festivals on the beach front, such as the ‘Goa fest,’ as such festivals and events violate CRZ and environmental norms.
The gram sabha also discussed the annual village panchayat budget, proposed for the financial year 2011-2012, which was estimated to be around Rs 40 lakh. The sarpanch informed that all the items of heads of expenditure will be debated in the next gram sabha.
Speaking after the meeting the sarpanch, Mr Edwin Baretto, said that the gram sabha is supreme and that he is bound to communicate with the government all the suggestions and resolutions put forward by the gram sabha.

  1. The people of Goa have right to oppose the mega projects but they are not in position to STOP it. As long as Don Quixote aka Digamber Kamat and Sancho Panza aka Chorchill Alemao are in power everything is possible in Goa for builders, pimps, prostitutes, gamblers, police etc etc.
How can Rahejas start their projects in carmona? when NH17 widening starts, how many Nig Goenkars' houses will be axed to make the way for road widening and new bridges. The Nig Goenkar will have to live like vagabonds in their own land. How many mega houses, which is occupied by ghanttis and migrants, will be axed?.
These Don Quixote and Sancho Panza entertained Goans alot, but now the time has come to burn them alive along with the jester of Ponda Ravi Naik.
Whenever the people of Goa protest , they have to take the opportuntiy to burn these bast@rds alive as they have fully corrupted and destroyed Goa beyond repair.

Our once beautiful village of Navelim has been ruined by electing crooks like Churchill to represent us. The highway and the mega projects have become a curse not only in our village but also around Goa. Residents of Cavelosim you need to fight tooth and nails to stop these mega projects.

  5. I was told that some of the panchayat menbers are crumb eaters formerly of luisino and now of chorchill. Must be the crumb eaters have cornered most of the free water tanks for themselves and their friends so this resolution. Actually the water pumped to the south by the pwd is dirty, unfit for drinking until filtered and boiled. why dont the pwd exercise quality checks on the water? This is the sort of electricity & water supplied by the goverment department to goan households as if they are doing it as a favor and not billing consumers. so much for progress 50 years down the so called "liberation".
