PARRIKAR SHOULD CLARIFY by S Kamat, Alto Betim

(Received by Email)
Manohar Parrikar is one of the most overrated politicians in Goa. He has been MLA of Panjim for donkey’s years, but has not lifted his little finger to initiate any development in the city, except for the work during the 2004 IFFI.
Major works like the Mala Lake beautification and the St Inez Nullah cleaning were left unfinished. There was a time when people hesitated to take their cars into Panjim, for fear of not getting parking. Nowadays, people are afraid to take their bikes into Panjim, for the same reason.
Parrikar, who has been MLA throughout this period, is now saying that he will work for Panjim’s development. Why? Only because of the CCP elections? What stopped him from working for Panjim all this while? This is a Rip Van Winkle act that every politician does before an election, only to again go to sleep soon after the voting has ended.
Mr Parrikar, how are you different?

  1. Fully agree with S Kamat

That's what I asked Parrikar in another forum few days ago.
He is not just the City MLA, he is opposotion leader too besides, a resident of Panjim.

  2. Welcome on Niz Goenkar JoeGoaUk we always watch you video channel. It is wonderful to see you here on the site of Niz Goenkars, where we can express ourselves to our hearts contents. You can be a major contribution to this site Joe. Parrikar always talks when in opposition and does the same thing when in power in fact worst, he is a communalist being an RSS personnel. Parrikar should not bluff people and try to win sympathy. In fact Parrikar has ruined Panjim city. Panjim never used to get flooded in the olden times but when Parrikar did the beautification of the city, it has started flooding.

  4. People who call others communalist are first communalist themselves. To call anybody communalist is the easiest thing to do. Why don't we except except everybody as Goans. We are born in particular community and hence we carry on with our life in which we are born. Only development I have seen in in Panjim in my life time was during Parrikar's tenure. This constituency is neglected by Congress today because they don't want Parrikar to be elected again from Panjim. This is also true to other Opposition constituencies. It also happened during MG tenure. Go and visit the Assembly session and you will know how Parrikar can corner the corrupt Congress govt. in Goa. He is the only MLA who does his homework well. Without him Goa is definate to go into shit. Let me tell you that I am not the supporter of BJP or Parrikar but we must accept certain facts. Without strong opposition we can't get results in democracy. Religion is not the route to judge the performance.

I am aware Parrikar is one of the Educated Politicians, unlike Monseratte,Churchill & Mickky.
Perhaps he is a good clinical debater, but is cetainly not a visionary.
If he imagines Goa being a Radical Hindu State, then there is no place for him.Dividing society on lines of religion etc is a sure disaster.Perhaps he is not learning from such communal and ethnic cleansing mistakes, from around the world.
Most Goa Politicians are only verbally active just before an election. After being elected they have a long "SIESTA"

  6. S Kamat, Alto Betim: well described these politicians are in hibernation dreaming "Get me rich quick by any means" until the next elections.During the election campaign they promise the world never to be delivered when in power. Unless we elect different candidates the political cycle of false promise will continue.

  8. I beg to differ just on one point. Parrikar is the smartest of the lot of Politicians. He can really do a lot for Goa and Goans. He has the capabilities and the brains to take Goa in the progressive direction. But, and there is this big 'BUT'! He has his priorities wrong. He has to come out openly on his priorities. He has to choose between his COMMUNALISM and STATESMANSHIP. He needs to openly denounce the right wing ideology and communalism and contest as an Independent. An d also stop being revengeful.

  9. Spy 13, Yours is the best comment, as you have said the very very very correct thing about Parrikar and I second you on that. Parrikar should give up communalism and be a secular fellow with his own party and I am sure that Niz Goenkar will support him but not at this stage.

Spy 13: I do agree with you.Parrikar from my observations is a smart Politician. He is also "wily" (fox like). He knows when to stick the" knife in" with the opposition. He does do his homework well unlike Churchill or Kamat and a few others.
I think on balance, Parrikar is prefered to Kamat. Kamat should just get a profession in "opening ceremonies" and opening an "AIR MILES" account with one of the local airlines. He would get several free trips to New Delhi. While Goa is burning, the idiot saunters off to New Delhi (Goa Desk) .

  11. If Parrikar is not in the Assembly then the present chors will take the mic, chairs, tables, etc and fix it in their houses

  12. Parrikar is certainly an intelligent and educated man with foresight. Take the example of the NEW Patto Bridge. One cannot imagine Panjim without it today. It would make every goan proud to have an IIT Engineer as a CM. But I cannot and will not support this man with his current RSS ideologies and as a member of the BJP party. That will have to change. My advice to Mr Parrikar is to demonstrate to Goans a change of heart from the futile and disgusting communal ideologies and form a new SECULAR party.
