ASSAMESE SECURITY GUARD MURDERED AT CALANGUTE

PANJIM: A security guard from Assam was murdered at Calangute in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to Calangute police, Suklal Goala was deployed by his security agency to guard an open plot at Cobravaddo-Calangute. Goala was found dead in the plot on Sunday morning, with his head smashed by a stone.
Police said that a bar has been conducting business in the plot adjacent to where Goala was deployed and one Pravesh Naik had been using the open space to park his vehicles. Naik had also threatened Goala in a previous incident, police said.
Calangute PSI Gaurish Parab conducted the inquest and sent the body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for preservation. During investigations, the security agency manager and Goala's cousin, who is also employed as a security guard, informed Parab of the previous threat by Naik, and Calangute police placed him under arrest.
Naik was arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and is presently in police custody. He will be produced before JMFC, Mapusa on Monday for further remand.
