VALPOI: Following opposition to the garbage treatment plant planned in ward 7 of the Valpoi Municipal Council, the local MLA and Health Minister, Mr Vishwajit Rane, in a meeting with the residents, assured them to look into their grievances.
Mr Rane, answering the queries of the people, informed that in the municipality area, there was no revenue land available, where the project could be set up. Speaking on the project, he said that the proposed bio-treatment plant would be using advanced technology, and the incidence of dumping of garbage would not arise.
He also assured the residents that care would be taken to maintain the machinery in pristine condition. Regarding the question of access road, Mr Rane requested the locals to suggest an alternate route for the trucks to transport the garbage.
Mr Rane then asked the residents to prepare a committee comprising of 10 to 15 members, and visit the garbage treatment plant located at Bicholim, on or before March 1.
He assured the residents that the plant in Bicholim is eco-friendly and was not creating any sort of pollution, and was running efficiently for the past two years.
The Health Minister further assured the locals that the tendering process for the garbage treatment plant would be held back, till the committee visited the Bicholim plant and gave him their feedback over the project.
Earlier at the meeting, Mr Sayyad Sarfaraz speaking on behalf of the residents of ward 7, stated the reasons for the objection of the garbage treatment plant at the proposed site.
He questioned whether the plant would be safe and hygienic for treating garbage in the long run. He also put before the minister the apprehensions that people had regarding the setting up of the plant in the vicinity of a residential area.
Mr Mehtab Sayyed supported Mr Sarfaraz and stated the reasons why the locals here were against the setting up of a garbage treatment plant in the close vicinity of their houses. The primary concern of pollution was also aired.
Mr Nasir Khan inquired with Mr Rane if it was possible to take the project to some other alternative revenue land. Mr Farid Khan also expressed his views. Councillor, Ms Fehmida Khan was also present at the meeting.
Every minister has promised Garbage plants but nothing has materialised, reason they understands how the plant works and more over they are more interested in making money for themselves. How can an illiterate persons make decisions about subjects they do not understand?

Mr Rane have acres of land over many places acquire by cheating the ignorant people, why cant Mr Rane set the garbage treatement plant in of his property. It will help the people and forgiven his sins.

ReplyDeleteWhile a Garbage plant is being planned, the garbage must be dumped at the doorsteps of the 40 ministers. These ministers give permission for mega building projects, housing Ghantis who do not know how to recycle garbage.
