FOOD ITEMS VALUED MORE THAN 3.5 LAKH SEIZED AT NAVELIM

PANJIM: In their drive against illegal packing and selling of food items, the Food and Drug Administration officials raided and seized large quantities of various types of food items including cashew nuts, chikki, sonpapdi, halwa, dry fruits, mango bars, sweets, etc valued at over `3.5 lakh from the house of Shravan P Singh at Calcodem, Navelim.
The raid was conducted by food inspector, Mr Rajiv Korde, and Ms Priya Kholkar, late on Friday evening, during which the FDA officials seized unlabelled food items. The seized food items also did not bear label declaring date of manufacture, best before date, vegetarian and non-vegetarian symbols, date of package, etc as required under the provision of law.
The food items were being packed in unlicensed premises and the packed items bore the name of a fictitious firm and carried the brand as Purohit Trading with address near Power House-Aquem, Margao. Enquiries by the FDA officials revealed that no such business premises existed.
The FDA officials after raiding the premises have drawn samples to check quality and have booked a case under Prevention of Food Adulteration Act. Further probe into the matter is being held by the FDA officials, according to the information provided by FDA director, Mr Salim Veljee.

Goans will never know what to expect in their food chain. Goan Politicians and Police are harming innocent Goans to satisfy their corrupt life. Now even Non-Goans are out to destroy Goan to satisfy their financial gains. Nerhu invaded Goa followed by Indians to destroy Goans. At least the FDA gas done a good job here.

  2. This is the mentality of the invading indians, anything chalta hai. Most of them are out to make a quick buck against the interests of poor goans. It is high time we put an end to these things, first by throwing out the corrupt set of present politicians whose only interest is to plunder goa.

Nehru bestowed Goa with his unhiegenic, filthy and corrupt culture by invading our beautiful Goa, which led to uncontrolled influx of filthy ghantis who are out to supply these kind of unhigenically prepared food and also fruits riped with dangerous pesticides. This is the culture of India and it's people. God only save us.

Goods and foods coming to the UK from India are always treated with great suspicion and disdain. People are loathe to buy MADE IN INDIA products and notably foods as,watching TV they see the unhygenic conditons it is prepared in and soild in.
The sale of Mangoes was banned until recently, until India agreed to treat them for infections before export.
Prince Phipi, the Queens husband once remarked when he saw some shoddy workmanship...that it must have been done by Indians.
Whenever I visit Goa I have seen Food stored in unhygenic conditions and more often, sold past its sell or use by date.
Foreign branded(so called-but probably fakes from China) cigarettes and other items are sold in Margao market that are more than 3 years old. These are extremely dangerous.
Many restaurants in Goa prepare food next to open toilets and open sewage.
There is a lot more that could be said and I am sure my goan bretheren will spell this out as the have done above.

One would have thought the CM being from Margao, food in the the town would have been hygienically maintained. Food prepared from the slums of Moti Doongor is being sold on the open carts in and around Margao.and parts of Navelim. Some of these carts are located near the public toilets. What are the health inspectors doing to deter these carts owners from preparing and selling food in and around such conditions? There is nothing healthy about these places and yet we see Goans flocking to eat from there only latter to complain of getting sick.
