SPONSORSHIPS FROM CORRUPT POLITICIANS FOR MEMORIALS by Freddy Agnelo Fernandes, Dubai

We Goans do love our football so much so, that even our ladies attend matches in large numbers, I feel proud when I hear a lot of outsiders say that football runs in the blood of Goans. I have been even told of a groom who had his nuptial in the afternoon, left his new wife at his home, played an inter-village football game and then went back for his reception; love for football among Goans is amazing.
Today on goanet I read that there is a football tournament in Kuwait sponsored by none other than Churchill Brothers in memory of their late brother Alvarnaz Alemao. I have all the respect for my Kuwaiti Goan brethren, but is this not the same Alvarnaz that was killed in smuggling raid by the Goa Customs lead by Costa, the brave son of the soil, who was later posted in North India for his personal safety from the Alemao clan ?
I am shocked that we Goans for the sake of sponsorships and other benefits today laud criminals and corrupt politicians and go to the extent of honouring them with memorial football tournaments, and chief guests, it is a disgrace to Goa and Goans that we treat Goan criminals as if they are Bhagat Singh’s and Subash Chandra Bose’s of Goa. Do we not have any ethics ?
It’s indeed sad, that along with out ethics we has lost our dignity as well, Kuwaiti Goans brothers keep the Goan flag flying high !

Freddy Agnelo Fernandes:::There are elements within Goan Society, that sell their MORALS to these Corrupt and uneducated Politicians.
Perhaps we morally abiding Goans should name this Tournament the "GOAN CRIMINALS TROPHY /TOURNAMENT" or the SMUGGLERS TOURNAMENT or SELL YOUR MOTHER TO CHURCHILLS` TOURNAMENT.

It should be remembered that these sponsorships are just to pull wool over our eyes. The author has said it and no other better explanation is required for not asking these donkeys' sponsorships

  3. In Goa during the old days Football tournaments were organised by United Village clubs members. I remember cycling from Margao to Cuncolim and further Play the game and cycle back home, win or lose we loved it. Today many Villages have lost that unity because either due to lack of interest among local youngsters, or lack of unity, the other major factor being occupiers of Mega housing projects have made Non-Goans our villagekars. These Non-Goans do not care about Goan social life. Putting all these facts into consideration and seeing the weakness these corrupt criminal politicians have taken advantage of the situation pouring money or organising these tournaments for their own Gains.
Can we GOANS find a solution to conduct these tournaments without getting the Corrupt politicians involved?.

  4. Goans are well known to love the game of football. It is mainly the Corrupt and insure politicians that sponsor these tournaments to secure their berths for every upcoming elections. These are the same politicians that love their Ghanti vote banks so dearly and yet many Goans follow them for the left over crumbs.

Blood money can be spent anyway and anywhere. Smuggling, drug dealing and Hathas is not a honest business competitors are eliminated in the process of earning blood money. Unfortunately there are crumb eaters who do not have a conscience where the money comes from. That came way earned money is donated by politicians to buy their next election votes.

  7. Political Lollipops are already doing the rounds of Goa. The Crumb Eaters are now active in certain parts of Goa and are already talking the dirty language of politics. Hope they will vanish, my prayers to St. Francis Xavier to save Goa from these dirty politicians and change the mind of evey Goan to vote wisely and not bring the same old faces again.

While these Alamaoes are conducting their smugglers memorial tournament, there should be an uprising and overthrow these politicians out.

Ghantis vote banks and the crumb eaters repeatedly elect these corrupt politicians to power while few try to vote a losing candidate. When are we Goans going to wake and fight? The true liberation of Goa will have to be the bloodiest one, unless we can get the crumb eaters to change for the better of Goa.
