FAKE LIBERATION OF GOA by A. Veronica Fernandes – Kuwait

After India got independence, some Goan freedom fighters went to Gandiji asking him to help them to oust Portuguese from Goa. For this Gandhiji replied thus "Now you are ruled by the Portuguese but once Portuguese is ousted from Goa, I am afraid you may be ruled by the Delhi Portuguese".How prophetic were these words from Gandhiji!!
Anthony Veronica Fernandes
When Portuguese rule ended from Goa on 19th December 1961 everything went against the interest of genuine Goans and true Goa. M. Boyer in one of his songs soon after 19th Dec.1961 said
“Goykar ami nidlole, nidloleank uttoilet. Patank korun voir pavtoch modench tuttoilet. Bhav bhav mhonon Goyenkarank bhatttoilet. Ani aplem apleak mevtoch xekim Goyenarank fottoilet”.
Before the ouster of Portuguese from Goa, lot of promises were given to Goans by the Bharati Government but all these promises were turned into zero. According to Pe. Chico Monteirowho once confided in me said that Nehru was the most untrusworthy person, he wanted to liquidate the identity of Goa by helping merging Goa with Maharastra. Nehru was very close to V.P. Naik the then Congress Chief Minister of Maharastra. But in the Opinion Poll things surprisingly for Nehru and men like him in Maharastra and Delhi turned out to be different. Soon after 19th December well-known political trio singer tiatrists Conception-Nelson-Anthony were punished by the hired administrators of Indian Government in Goa for exposing the filthy and rubbish rule of Bharat. So also the giant of Konkani stage Kid Boxer. Their songs were screened severely as if Goa was ruled not only by dictatorial Salazar but worst than Salazar.
Lamenting on the deteriorating law and order situation in Goa in the name of fake liberation, the trio kings sang thus
“Ghoram moddlint, zonelam foddlint, noxib team choranchem, techborobor krimidoranchem” referring to the deadly crimes and worst of robberies taking place in the so called liberated Goa. What sort of liberation we genuine Goans are experiencing? The liberation of freely killing of innocent Goans thru the factors influenced by the influx of non-Goans? The liberation to rob innocent Goans of their valuables as never before during the 451 years of Portuguese rule in Goa? The liberation to use bribery in each and every segment of Goan life and thereby destroy the fabricks of immaculate Goan image? Liberation to impose non-Goan rule of Maharastra in Goa and thereby keep colonialism alive in Goa? Liberation to liberate Goa from Portugal and subjugate Goa under Maharastra and Delhi deputationistBabus whom the late Dr. Jack de Sequeira once dubbed as “Dogs”? Liberation to degoanise Goa of its culture, language, tradition, history and everything best? Liberation to damage and hurt Christians of their religious sentiments?
The late Fr. Mendonca once said “Goa was not liberated but invaded by Bharat”. Even the supreme court in its landmark judgement never used the word liberation. It is a hard fact that no body wants to live under colonial rule and that includes me. Portuguese colonialists have done lot of injustices to Goa and genuine Goans with the strong support of Bamonshahi andBhatkarshahi but on the other hand Portuguese rule has done yeomen services for the Goans and Goa. If Goa was not grabbed by Bharat for another 5 to 10 years I am sure Goa would be much better and safer place to live in the world. It was Bharati rule that disgraced the greatness of Goa and Goans. In this Bharat that is ruled by the bloody rascal politicians everything is bad. Money power and goonda force rule India including Goa and this has happened only because Goa came under Bharati rule. We Goans may be poor in many aspects but surely we are very rich in culture, tradition, history, character and discipline. You will never find anywhere in Bharat as great hearted and as kind hearted people as genuine Goans whose number is now unfortunately dwindling. The “chor” and loafers who came to Goa with the advent of Bharati rule were the most third class and disgraceful people who helped destruction of Goa. TheMalyalis and Maharastrians who started pouring in Goa soon after Goa came under Bharati rule totally spoiled the greatness of Goa, these non Goans were without any class in them. Unfortunately, if currently Goa is facing degradation of Goan character by the present generation including the politicians then it is only because they learnt everything worst from theBharati “Bamtte”.
Will it be possible for the genuine Goans to get back those glorious days when genuine Goans used to sleep in the “bolcao” and “angonn” under the “Ambo & Tinch” Trees whole night keeping their doors and windows opened? Will it be possible for genuine Goans now to go to the beach and have medicinal bath in the month of April & May without any hindrance from the big hoteliers preventing locals from entering their own local beach? God alone know tomorrow the locals may have to pay for the tickets to go to their beaches. Will it be possible for genuine Goans to have the previllege to inhale the fresh air without having impurities spread by the toxic industries? Will it be possible for genuine Goans to get their work done from any Government department without paying bribe? Will it be possible for genuine Goans to have Hindu-Christau-Mussolman “Bhavponn” as enjoyed during the Portuguese regime? The secularism that Bharat imposed on Goa is a fake one. During Portuguese time Goa enjoyed better and best secularism in its true sense. Now Goa is not very far from Gujarat because BJP means communalism. Will it be possible for Goa any more to have in their Panchayats and Legislative Assembly any undiluted and uncorrupt member? The greatness of Goa is gone for good and it will never resurface. The future of Goa will be framed by the non-Goans who are become “dadas” of Goa and these non-Goan dadas will never protect the interest of Goa andGoans. The Panchayat of golden village of Sancoale is manned by non-Goan Sarpanch who is selling the village to Birlas and other top industrialits but with the exception of SimonCarvalho ex Kuwait, no-body in the Panchayat is doing anything to prevent Birlas from destroying Sancoale. This is just one example how Goa is destroyed by the non-Goans in the name of liberation which is nothing but fake liberation. Very few of us who enjoyed the greatness of Goa will sing Hosannas in the name of pristine Goa and how long these hosannas will be sung by us? Very many of us are coming closer to the grave and in another few years Goa will lose all its charm and greatness and current Goan will be just like many other polluted and disgraceful Indians.
The great Goan journalist Frank Moraes felt ashamed to be an Indian because of lop sided policies carried by the Bharat Serkar. I too am ashamed to be an Indian when Bharat Serkarconverted me as Bharati on 19th December in 1961 because by being a Bharati I have to be a colleague against my wishes of those people who killed their own Bharati brothers in Gujarat in the name of religion. The religion that shows hatred to others is not a religion. I am ashamed to be a Bharati because my countrymen the Bharati politicians who rule Bharat are corrupt, I don’t like to be equated with these corrupt rogues who destroy the nation. I am ashamed to hold the same citizenship as that of third class politicians like Laloo Prasad & Jayalalita. Otherwise I am proud of Bharat which is a great nation having great cultural heritage and thousands of years history. Bharat otherwise is a great nation which gave to the world the great epics Ramayana and Mahabarata and invented the game of Chess. Bharat otherwise is a great nation that produced great men like Tagore – Swami Vivekananda and Mahatmah Gandhi.
In present Bharat there are no great men nor great thinkers and great leaders. Current leaders are sowing the seeds of discord among the citizens on religious grounds and it is they who will split Bharat once again as they have done in 1947. If Bharat splits once again it will be only because of the present day communal leaders of India and if one analysis this point very impartially the day of further split of India is not far, it may be today or tomorrow, if not tomorrow then the day after tomorrow but surely it will come, may be during my life time or my children or grand children life time if our leaders are not going to change their habits of dividing the people on religious lines. The acquisition of Atomic weapons is not a safeguard to protect the integrity of Bharat.
The super power the Soviet Russia with all its atomic and hydrogen arsenals within a split of a second got splitted into pieces, so atomic weapons is not the safeguard of any country’s integrity. Pakistan and China are not the enemies of Bharat. The greatest enemy of Bharat is communalism propagated by its own communal Bharati citizens and it is thru this communalism that Bharat will further split. That will be the sad day for Bharat and all the great Bharati people and thinkers. My regret is that as a Bharati due to forcibly acquisition of Goa by Bharat I will have to face lot of problems in Goa too which was acquired by Bharat in the name of fake liberation. I don’t want this fake liberation, I want true liberation. But will I ever get it?

  1. Well I am learning a lot about Goa's past through the many gifted writers on "Niz Goenkar". Dear Veronica I was happy to read your beautifully written article. I left Kuwait in 1997 and during my years there I had the opportunity of meeting you a few times.Back then I used to work for Behbehani. You will be an asset on this forum.

  2. The liberation has always been fake, the beasts of India Nehru and K Menon wanted to devour Goa for the ghanttis and so they invaded Goa. Now we have the shit eater Naguesh Karmali and BJP along with the terrorist outfit of RSS doing the dirty work of indian ghanttis in Goa. Even Mohandas K. Gandhi did not want to attack Goa and capture it as Goa had existed for 500 years before india was even created. Good article Veronica

  3. A welcome article from Veronic, another Niz Goenkar in Kuwait. You have been an inspiration to many through your writings. Hope Goa will change for the better and survive to maintain our entity. We would like to see more articles from you.

  4. Bravo Veronica! This shit eater Nehru had also promised autonomy and special status to Goa. Portugal did not sign the treaty of surrender till 1975. The issue of Goa was at the UN, but thanks to the veto power of the Soviet Union, the resolution on Goa for the self-rule and independence was defeated.
We need to unite and defeat the forces of darkness who are trying to destroy our Goa and Goans.
    Well done, Veronica!

  5. At last Veronica and others found their voices heard. All credit goes to NIZ GOENKAR for allowing Goans to express their thoughts freely which otherwise were suppressed by editors and bias press in Goa. Veronica thanks for being bold and I hope others will follow you in your footsteps. God Bless Goa & Goans.

  9. As I have commented before, Goans abroad only know to yap and do nothing else. Its a shame a priest has to comment like this although what you say is true, no doubt about it.

But a priest like you should be more interested in why Catholics today are leaving the Church in big numbers and joining Protestants, Believers, etc.

Do your duty Father, leave the rest to us Niz Goenkars. Just pray for our victory. Viva Pausilip, Viva Goa !

  12. @ James, who is the priest here? Get your facts right. Did Anthony Veronica F call go by the title Rev or father ? And whats your problem with overseas goans? Are you feeding us? Were you there to give us jobs when we required them? You once claimed that the overseas goans moved out to make way for the migrants, I am not against the non goans who have contributed to goan society however I am against those that have procured land and jobs illigally. Are all the goan youth employed? If we left at least should not have all our youth been employed? You are nothing but being very irrational. You may not want our support but we want to support our beloved land and we know many decent people want our support. express your views but in a better tone.

  13. Mr. James come to your senses. You are talking out of way and this is everytime you post some comment you try to bring down the Goans who are out of Goa or abroad. Do not think only you love Goa and we those who are abroad do not love. In fact we love Goa more than you do.

  16. To Mr. James D'Silva - Mr. Anthony Veronica Fernandes is a Konkani Journalist and Fighter, a well known personality in Goan community in Kuwait. You should research this before posting your dumb comments about him being a priest - a conclusion you most proabably reached by looking at his photo with long sleeves and buttoned shirt

Empty vessel makes a lot of noise goes the saying and the same is happening in the case of James Silva. Blindly he is firing bullets which are aimed at Goans working abroad without even thinking or reading the articles fully. Your apologies are not accepted here among the Goans who love Goa

To James D`silva:::I am aware (and now others too) that you have a very severe mental illness, logical limitations and comprehending disabilities and an illness past being able to be treated or cured. It is reflected each time you comment.
What has happened to your alter -ego Simon?

No Goan living abroad has any need, to seek your express permission to comment or make remarks.
It slike you can only sing one Hymn or verse all the time. That is you sad limitation.
Priests too, have a right to comment or remark on any topic.Who are you to limit it to just Priesthood.
Perhaps the best way to describe you is like an old badly scratched Vinyl Record. The needle is stuck, playing the same tune over and over again. It is plainly stuck in just 1 groove.
Your tune is stuck at "Goans abroad".Sadly that tune of yours will not go further up the "Pop" Charts.
As Mario has said...you seem bitter about Goans abroad. However more than some misdeed...you seem to suffer from an extreme form of jealousy and paranoia.
2 deadly diseases of the mind-set.
Perhaps the services of a Priest may help excorcise the demons you are possesed by.

  20. @Pio Antao, Alcantro Carneiro & Mario:: I have said its a mistake and have apologised, I don't require any more comments on it. If Mario comes from a dukor background, I guess thats where he belongs.

I repeat, I have nothing against Goans Abroad. Its just that we in Goa don't see any action from u guys. Correct me if I'm wrong ?

Apart from fighting with each other on this site, what else are we good at ? We should be asking each other these questions.

We in Goa are trying our best to get Pausilip elected, but he's got some tough competition now. I hope u guys are aware of this. What are u going to do ? Have u thought about it ? We need action guys.

  21. @James appreciate that you have come out and apologised and it takes courage to admit ones mistake! Anthony Veronica Fernandes has for the 1st time written on Niz Goenkar and the article it self say it all on the knowledge this gentelman has. More over I have personally know his good works during my years in kuwait. He has gone out of the way to help many goans espicially the youth who had a crises facing them. Not a easy thing to do in kuwait. Like many on this forum who have welcomed him , you too should have welcomed him on board as its really a privilege to have his support. Once again appreciate the apologies and hey you may have had a bad experience with an over seas goan however dont have that grudge on overseas goans. I trust you are a "Niz Goenkar" and I would like to see better understanding between all goans be it in goa or abroad.

  22. @N.Fernandes-London:: My reply to you is above, I don't need to repeat it again & again. Learn to read properly, so many times I have said that I hold nothing against Goans Abroad yet time & again you seem to be stuck on this notion. It must be the chill in London, sit near the fireplace ol' chap & have a drink, it will warm you up and make your brains work. First understand whats written and then yap. Mistakes happen to everyone, don't tell me you are a saint.

    To James d`silva::::
Here is your remark..."As I have commented before, Goans abroad only know to yap and do nothing else"
If I, along with others here have mis-interpreted your comments then I / we apologise.
You have constantly remarked about Goans Abroad. It has been picked up and noted by others too on several occasions.
I am a Goans as much as you are.I do not need you to tell me that my comments or that of any other Goan living abroad, are only welcome if made in Goa.
Perhaps you should consider "chilling-out " a little and open your mind up and broaden you views, a bit more.
Goans that were born abroad , did not have an option while in their mothers womb to choose where they were born.Parents who went abroad, chose to do so, so that they could give their children the best start in life.
The fact that they were told of their "origins" is sufficient for them to care for it.
I acknowledge you mistake.....but as you can see it is several people who have noticed your disdain for Goans abroad.
It is also obvious you have been abroad , but for some reason you seem to demonstrate a hatred for Goans abroad through your comments.
You should be happy that Goans abroad care for Goa.They will endeavour to do the best they can for Goa and in the best way possible.
I have repeatedly told you that all Goans abroad have family or relations and extended relations in Goa.For all you know..I may also be related to you in some way. Some distant relation.
So Why are you so blase about people like me commenting?.
If you take and get pleasure from irritating commentators here...then also expect to be eradicated appropriately.

    To all commentators :

If someone speaks negative of a person at once everybody tries to swoop down suddenly, as a bird does in seizing its prey and the person has to grasp for breath. I do agree and appreciate his writing in what Veronica has said and written is true from the point of history and the present scenario. But writing does not make a person, what he is from the heart. If anyone would like to know the other side of the story of this Veronica, here is an action packed thriller that appeared on the www.goa-world.com and see the link. Has this Veronic has any say on this issue. Let him respond to this article. Now he will ran away of this blog. Dear friends after reading this you will know the fickle minded person in Veronic. I await your feedback on this matter.

    Part 2
“It’s a Revenge Review not Tiatr Review”

I, Comedian Agostinho, got to know you (I repent it now), for the first time, when I came to perform in Rosary Ferns’ Tiatr at Kuwait. At that time, you were introduced to me as “Veronic”. But now in 2010, just as Temudo has become “Temuz”, the years have taken its toll and ‘Veronic’ has transformed into ‘VIKH’ (Poison). That poison has contaminated your whole body and changed you to a RABID MAD DOG. Your actions are enough proof, as you bark at anybody and everybody, for no valid reason whatsoever, even at religious catholic priests.

Hope you know that, or else confirm it soon, that your sole identity is, and you are known as a ‘RABID MAD DOG’ in the whole of Kuwait.

Your dirty conscience started pricking, the moment you saw an almost houseful audience present for my hit show “ADVOGAD”. If there were very less spectators, you would have been very happy and would have enjoyed your sadistic pleasures from the core of your rotten heart.

The timings of my tiatr coincided with the live telecast of one of the best matches of the World Cup, between Brazil and Portugal , teams which are cherished and have a huge fan following amongst Goans. In spite of this, I take pride in revealing to a mad jealous dog like you, that my show was patronized by the likes of Mr. Gaspar Crasto, Mr. Britto, and scores of football lovers and football players themselves. This goes on to prove my worth. If any other Tiatr was to be staged that day at the same time instead of ADVOGAD directed by ‘Kalcho Porcho’ Director, the ground reality would have been totally different.

    Part 3 to follow

To a Niz Goenkar well wisher (Comedian Agostinho):::I am sorry to hear that you and A veronica have had major differences in the organisation, commission and execution of a Konkani Theatre (TIATR) in Kuwait.
This seems like a very personal and heartfelt issue to you.
I do not know A. Veronica personally. His comment here on NG is purely Historical in nature.
Your comment is very personal and over issues of a badly organised Tiatr.
I hope you will be able to put behind you ill-treatment you feel you have received and try to move on.
For sure he has not made any comment about you or your views, on any remark on the article FAKE LIBERATION itself.

I am sure A. Veronica will have read this comment of yours.I hope the both of you at some convinient time, as soon as the dust has settled, will be able to resolve any hankering issues of a "personal & organisational nature".
I take this opportunity to wish you both goodwill to each other.

As I mentioned before I did meet Veronic a few times 14 years back during my time in kuwait, I do not even reckon that he remembers me and I am not taking sides as its been a while now. I have not know comedian Augustine ,but I do appreciate his good works of bringing smiles and laughter to peoples faces in this ever stressed out world. However please be informed that "Niz Goenkar" was started by the founder Menino de valpoi as a dedication to beloved Goa and not to sort personal grudges. In my opinion comedian has chosen a wrong place to sort Veronic out. The article brings out facts of Goas past , present and future, which Augustine too agrees with . I feel the above comments by comedian are simply uncalled for. Guys how far can we go on if we digress form a topic that is agreeable to all and at the same time have hatred and grudge among our very own?

  33. Dear Mr. "Well Wisher from Niz Goenkar", first of all let me inform you that this site has been developed for the cause of my motherland Goa. All the commentators here are contributing to the causes some are holding a negative stance and some positive but they relate it to the topic and the cause of Goa. No one so far seemed to attack somebody personally with such big lectures. Whether you are Comedial Agustine or anybody else. You can debate an issue here not something else that happened. It is like an article that you have written. If we do not give up this mentality of ours and do not unite then our Goa will die a miserable death. I was in Kuwait for more than 20 years and have know Veronica for that many years. Kindly refrain from using such comments. I have said the comments will not be censored but that does not mean that any rubbish can be written. This is totally a PERSONAL VENDETTA. I would be very much happy if you focus your attention and energy against the corrupt politicians and law breakers of Goa. Conserve your energy to preserve Goa for GOANS ONLY. I hope better sense prevails. God bless you and all the commentators on the site - Menino de Valpoi

Dear Niz Goenkar & other commentators,

I thank you for giving the opportunity to comment on this blog. My main motto to bring this article which I had read long ago made me dig into it and thought it would be befitting to bring to the notice of all Niz Goenkars. Please note that I do not know comedian Agostinho nor Veronica in person, but what was written in that article inspired me to bring forth such minded person’s character in forefront. I do not have any personal vendetta nor curiosity in any of the two person’s personal affairs whatsoever. He seemed to think that I was trying to cause problems, but that was never my intention. My main intention was it would enlightened the minds of Niz Goenkar what is going behind the curtains. Right from the start you have been doing good job in bringing out the true colours of our chor politicians and other like minded persons in particular at Dubai, who were spineless in their behaviour and dealings. Please be assured that it was not my intention to hurt anyone feelings. Mog assundi.

To A well wisher from Niz Goenkar::
I sincerely appreciate the apology you have bravely made.
As you know we all have "personal" differences and in many cases enemities.
Some of us have temporary faults and sometimes permanant ones too.
As you know Niz Goenkar is focussed in dealing with issues issues that affect the common good of all Goans.
It is not a place to deal with issues of a , private or personal nature.
The problem with some Dubai Goans , is that they believe and behave like they are some sort of Gods Gift to other Goans. In simple terms , there are no equals to them. They are selfish and worse, & do it in Gods name.
Again I thank you for you courteous apology and correction of your intent.
    May God bless you.

The Portuguese made Goa, these Varmas, Sharmas, Guptas, Chopras, Mishras, etc have not made Goa, but profited what was made by the Portuguese.

How can an normal Indian afford these prices? For sure these are under world dons who have made Goa their safe heaven. And probably they must be well protected by the leaders all over India. I worry about the future of Goa and all our people with these type of people taking over the place . For sure these dangerous people will be prominant citizens of Goa with their infamous wealth. Presently living in a land with extreme climate I would vision to spend my days when old in Goa, however with the present situation I never think it would be ever possible to be comfortable as a senior there.
