AIRES ASKS UNION LAW MINISTER NOT TO INAUGRATE ARBITRATION CENTRE

PANJIM: Even before the International Arbitration Centre at Goa is inaugurated next month, social activist Aires Rodrigues has written to Union law minister Veerappa Moily requesting him not to associate himself with the centre's inaugural function as it is being set up by a private trust. Moily is scheduled to inaugurate the centre in Goa on January 4, 2011.
Rodrigues said the centre is being set up by a private trust consisting of Goa Law Commission chairman Ramakant Khalap and commission members advocates Cleofato Coutinho and Mario Pinto Almeida. The fourth member of the trust is VK Agarwal, whose profession, he claims, is not disclosed in the trust deed. Agarwal was India's law secretary when Khalap was Union minister of state for law in mid-1990s and has written books on arbitration issues.
According to Rodrigues, international arbitration is being currently conducted at New Delhi by the Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA) and the Indian Council of Dispute Resolution (ICADR) and they are both societies registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. "The proposed International Arbitration Centre at Goa will be run by a private trust that will be not be accountable to the public", Rodrigues alleged. Khalap said, "I have no comment to offer on this". (TNN)

  1. To my dear Nizgoenkars, I believe our words are making an impact! I believe discussions are going on in homes all across Goa. We need to encourage this. Just toady, the Herald reported that the FF are now reacting to comments made about them. Even the Herald editor-in-chief had to write about the 'rot' in Goa. I thank Mr Menino, Mr Cruz, and all the nizgoencars that have allowed this medium to speak to our people. When the Herald silenced us because some politician wanted to silence us, this website has been a Godsend. It is grassroot efforts that can change our destiny for the better. I applaud all those who give of the time to contribute with articles. We need to inform our people and let them know that we are ready to fight for Goa. Our people in the villages need our help. We need to let them know that for some, being the crumb eaters is not the way. As a society we need to ostracize those that are traitors. So much harm has been done to us. The time to act is now. I urge all Goans to unite. I appeal to the overseas Goans, to do their part. We need to set up legal funds to challenge all the harmful attacks on our homeland. I urge the Goans overseas to have your parties but also collect funds to fight the system that is not on our side. Just as Mr. A. Rodrigues is challenging the system, we too need to pay for lawyers to help our people in the villages. There is no doubt that we are on the attack and our destiny is not looking good for us. We have had an invasion on our soil, and soon our voices will be drummed out if we don't act now. We are not being anti-Indian, we are trying to preserve our heritage. Why shouldn’t be proud of our heritage? We have such a rich culture. We are a small state, the in-migration has been excessive!! I urge the people to rise and put in a moratorium on construction in Goa. Kick Chorchill and his MEGA project. Traitor! In some ways, he is a greater evil than the Mickey Mouse. Keep up the good work. Words DO make an impact! Lastly, I urge new readers to write in their comments as we need to let the dirty politicians know how big our numbers are. To all, A Happy New Year! Special status for Goa!!Viva Goa!

  2. Trevor, the news and discussions about NG are not just in Goa but across the Globe wherever Goenkars are there. It has made a big headline in Portugal too where many Goans reside and work sending their earnings back home for the benefit of their families unlike the politicians who rob Goa and send money abroad. I hope every Goan at every nook and corner read NG and realize that he represents the views of like minded fellow Goan.
    HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  3. Thanks Dalia, it makes me happy to know that we are all united all around the world. We must not be silent any more! Too much harm has been done to us with illiterate immoral looting politicians of OUR Goa. We need to stop the ‘rot’ now!, or like a run-away train it will pick up steam and we may not be able to be stop it. We need to change the illegal and dirty system in India. We need to get through our people, the breadcrumb eaters that follow Mickey, Chorchill, that we can do better. As you say, we need to stop our people from being selfish and choosing the easy way selling OUR Goa at any cost. We need to reevaluate this 'Tourism' that is destroying us. All second homes must be stopped so Bombaywallas and Delhiwallas can go back home. We need to have our quaint quiet and peaceful villages back! And thank you Dalia, for making me understand how the dirty system we call ‘democracy’ in India really works and how Chorchill, Mickey and the 40 chors get elected in Goa. Now we need to turn the tide. Rise up, my fellow Nizgoencars! The time is now! Time to take OUR Goa back! 2011 must be the year we start the grassroots effort to bring peace and stop the destruction of OUR Goa. Thanks the founders of this website, their hard work may start a movement to Save Our Goa. Please recommend this website to as many Nizgoencars whenever you meet any. Tell your neighbours, friends new acquaintances to logon and do their part for Goa! Maybe 'Special Status' may save us, I see lots of our people now talking about it. We can do it. Let us be like Dr Jack Seqeira and bring 'Special Status' to OUR Goa. Lets make him proud. Viva Goa!

    You are very 101% right, Total Page view is more then 130,000 hits, that's very good.

    The Negative approach of Marathe too helped, too show us that we Goenkar are to-gether for a commen cause for the betterment of our beloved motherland GOA.

    NG site is bringing Goans to-gether like never before.

    We Goans, we love our Fields, the breeze we get from it, we like our football, our kids are more interested in the Premier Leaque, Primera Division, Bundes Liga and so on.

    @Marathe

    You can never be a Goan, you pretend to be one. If you were a real Goan then you would support my idea of a Goan team in FIFA, when we're a part of FIFA, we can compete to qualify for the World Cup, when we do qualify for the WC, we can then play in the WC. Do you copy?

  5. Thanks Albin. They were some who discouraged us saying we were wasting our time. Each of us can make a difference. I have to thank Mr Minino and Nizgoenkars of this website. They have truly given up so much of their time and dedication to the cause of Goa. They are truly the sons and daughters of Goa! I applaud Mr Raul Fernandes for his article 'Elect Right, or face Jungle Raj'. He wrote this at great risk to himself. We know how 'evil' the forces are in Goa. So I thank him. Hopefully we will follow what he has proposed. His plan is what we MUST do if we are to save Goa and our culture. Everyone can do his or her part. I urge our people not to sit on the sidelines any more, we are in emanate danger. We need to take OUR Goa back. Lets make Mr Jack Seqeira proud! Spread the word! Light the fire in the belle of every Nizgoencar in Goa and all around the world.

    You bet we will, it's not far away that Goa will be free.

    It's a pity that our crooked and non-crooked canditdates stand for election based on BJP, NCP, Congress .. tickets, when congress wins, our brainless monkeys do what the congress says, everytime they have to hop to delhi.

    When we vote, we should only vote for pure Goan regional Parties.
