CHARGESHEET FILED IN SAMPRIT MALVANKAR MURDER CASE

MAPUSA: Anjuna police on Tuesday filed a charge- sheet in the Samprit Malvankar murder case. Incidentally, police filed the charge-sheet just one day prior to the three-month period within which a charge sheet has to be filed.
The 299-page charge- sheet has been filed against 11 persons and contains names of 87 witnesses.
Police have named Laxman Salgaonkar, Ajit Kambli, Dattaram Salgaonkar, Shrikhant Salgaonkar,Suraj Govekar, Yogesh Salgaonkar, Prashant Konadkar, Tukaram Salgaonkar, Harish Mandvikar, Dinesh Kanojia and Tambi as the accused in the case.
The main accused, Tambi is from Tamil Nadu. The plot was hatched by Tukaram and Harish who were in custody in a drug case in Mumbai. All the accused except Tambi have been nabbed and are in custody. An absconding charge-sheet has been filed against Tambi.  It may be recalled that Samprit Malvankar was shot dead in Anjuna on September 22.
It was a conspiracy hatched by the relatives of the deceased in order to take revenge. Investigations were carried out by Anjuna PI Manjunath Dessai under the supervision of DySP, Mr Sammy Tavares and North Goa SP, Mr Arvind Gauns. (NT)
