ROOT CAUSE OF ALL PROBLEMS IN GOA by Dr. Ferdinando dos Reis Falcão, Margao.

Land is not “the root cause of all problems in Goa” as our Chief Minister said on the eve of the so called ‘Liberation Day’. Our Goans are gullible to whatever politicians say, and politicians know it. Did we not have the same land in Goa for the 450 years of Portuguese rule? Do not other States and Countries have land? Or is it different from land in Goa?
The root cause of all problems in Goa is first, the successive Governments we had, with people without integrity who only looked to their selfish interest rather than for Goa and Goans as a whole. Governments with no discipline, promoting favouritism, nepotism and corruption. It has created a generation of corrupt Goans who benefit from these corrupt elected elements and elect them time and again for their personal benefits. This generation of arrogant, indisciplined and semiliterates care two hoots for Goa and are blinded by short term gains. The Government has been so emboldened that they are misusing the Law of Land Acquisition with impunity for personal gains.
So where does our small time landowners have an opportunity to save their ancestral land for posterity? If the already deceptive and fraudulent Mundkar Act or Land to the Tiller Act have not yet taken the land from the rightful owner, it is now the Land Acquisition Act. What options does a small landowner have? If it is not the government, it is these recalcitrant new generation who encroach on the land, and justice is nowhere in sight. Goans are better advised to double check whatever politician speak.

  1. Goodday,

I wasnt able to understand what the minister was saying. I agree that the government(people elected and who want to have seats for themselves till they are wanting to have them till they are nearing to occupy their own graves) is the problem.

So also in newspapers Mr.Kamat said that people in Goa do not co-operate!!!Ofcourse why will they do???Mining has been such a huge issue and we have all the reasons of water tables getting affected..pollution as can be seen..WHAT HAS HE DONE????Do something first...practise what you preach....jus giving those non-sense words out will not solve anything..

He was boasting to have given food, clothing and shelter and now looking into giving electricity, roads...What I say is..IS THAT ALL YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT????Europe was time and again demolished in wars and rose up back again...see where they are in 50years from demolition and where we are from fifty years of freedom..???and our dear CM in only thinking of ROADS<ELECTRICITY....please dont embarrass yourself..

    Nyah

  2. The root cause of all problems in Goa is that Goa and Goans are ruled by a bunch of illiterate crooks and looters, plunders of Goan soil. What else can we expect when we have EDUCATION MINISTER without BASIC EDUCATION?

  3. I was thaught in school when I was a student that , the primary duty of any govt. is to safeguard the life and property of their citizens. Unfortunately , we have a government in Goa which do not seems to be doing the same. In other words we do not have any government. Liberation has brought us only crimes and looting of land by govt. by land aquisition in the name of developement and by private parties be it by Goans and non Goans. Recent statement by Chief Minister that he will pay the market value is all bullshit. Now a days even a kg. of Onions cost more.

  5. I agree with Dr. Ferdinando. The small time landowners (locally called bhatkars)have lost everything. With the mundkar law, the mundkars became bhatkars and the bhatkars became paupers. As such many of them sold their land at a throwaway price and emigrated to foreign countries. They did it to survive and not because of greed.
