FIVE PERSONS CHARGED WITH MURDER HAS BEEN ACQUITTED BY COURT

MARGAO: The South Goa Sessions court on Monday acquitted all the five persons who were charged by the Colem Police for the murder of a woman at Anmod Ghat last year for want of evidence.
The prosecution case was that the accused on the intervening night of May 4-5 at Anmod Ghat, Molem, hatched a criminal conspiracy and allegedly killed the Kavita by strangulating her neck with cloth as a ligature material in a Sumo jeep belonging to a native of Belgaum.
The police have subsequently attached the cloth used as a ligature and the Sumo. The police had attributed the motive of the crime to the fact that the victim was the second wife of Mahadev Pammar and was killed by the accused to get rid of her. After acquitting the accused, the Court later passed an order to set free the accused if not required in any other offense.
