CHEATER ARRESTED BY ANJUNA POLICE

PANJIM: A man who allegedly cheated people by inducing them to invest in his firm by assuring a huge profit after 40days was arrested by the Anjuna police. Pandit Sambhaj Kolanbkar, 52, would ask people to invest 1.10 lakh in his firm and promise them a return of 1.50 lakh after 40 days.
"We have arrested the accused and registered a cheating case against him. He claimed that he had come to Goa last month and also has an office in Goa. We suspect that he has cheated several people and is involved in similar offences at other places. We are investigating the same," said Anjuna police.
On Sunday afternoon, he was in the Siolim market, trying to woo women working in the market to invest their money in his firm 'Success Idea Group'. He claimed that they had to give him 1.10 lakh and within 40 days they would get a return of 1.50 lakh.
This claim of his made the complainant, Chandrakant Palekar, suspicious and he asked him to give more details about his firm and its office in Goa. On being questioned, at first the accused said that he had an office in Panjim and also gave the contact number. Kolanbkar, who is from Thane, claimed that he was in the market to promote the investment scheme offered by his firm and people had really made a profit by investing in his firm. However, Palekar, not convinced with the claims made by the accused, called on the office landline and found that the number did not exist. Thereafter, he asked the accused for his office address and other details. However, Kolanbkar failed to give a convincing reply.
Thereafter, Palekar informed the Anjuna police. When they arrived at the market, police learnt that the accused, since last few days, was trying to win customers. Palekar, in his complaint to the police, said that the accused person dishonestly induced him to invest cash of 1.10 lakh in his company 'Success Idea Group' with the promise to repay cash of 1.50 lakh after 40 days and thereby attempted to cheat him. Based on the complaint the police registered a cheating case against the accused. (TNN)

  2. Goans are the easiest targets for Domestic corrupt politicians and external crooks alike. It will take more than one honest police personal to safeguard Goans. It is a great work done by PI Chandrakant Palekar. What will the courts do next?
