CURCHOREM TEMPLE ROBBED OF VALUABLES WORTH 2.5 LAKH

MARGAO: Burglars struck at Shri Sateri temple located near Sarvodaya High School, Curchorem on Tuesday night and made away with valuables worth around ` 2.5 lakh.
Curchorem police said that the thieves decamped with valuables comprising of a gold chain, a silver umbrella and other silver items from a cupboard in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. One of the three temple doors was broken open to gain access to the main room.
Following a complaint filed by secretary of the temple committee, Mr Kamleshar Naik, the police rushed to the site and conducted panchanama. A dog squad and a finger print expert were pressed into service. South Goa superintendent of police, Mr Allan D’Sa also visited the site along with other police officers and took stock of the situation. Police have registered the offence under sections 457 and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
