INAUGRATION OF NEW SIOLIM COASTAL SECURITY POLICE STATION ON 22ND DECEMBER

MAPUSA: Coastal Security in Bardez and Pernem will get a boost with the inauguration of the new Siolim coastal security police station on December 23, at the hands of Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik.  Close on the heels of the inauguration of the new Anjuna police station last year, a new coastal security police station will be inaugurated on December 23 at Siolim.
Others expected to be present are Siolim MLA, Mr Dayanand Mandrekar and other police officials and panchayat members. The coastal security police force stretching from Betim in Bardez to Tiracol in Pernem is headed presently by PI Mr Anthony F. Monserrate. Work on the Rs 45 lakh new coastal security police station began in 2007, during the tenure of the then coastal security PI, Mr Naresh Mhamal. Foundation stone for the project was laid in 2008, by Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik in presence of the then DGP, Mr Brar and local MLA, Mr Mandrekar.
The new coastal security police station comprising of ground plus one has an office for the PI, station house officer, a lock up for gents, ladies and a barrack for ladies and gents.
The coastal security police force has a big role to play with regards to maintaining coastal security, particularly keeping a watchful eye on terrorists entering through the sea route. The jurisdiction of the coastal security police is 200 metres above the high tide line and 12 nautical miles in the sea, beyond which is the area of the Coast Guard. The coastal security also involves patrolling in the sea, keeping a check on river interiors, trawler activity, water sports and maintaining a vigil on minor ports. The Siolim station has under it three minor ports namely Panjim, Chapora and Tiracol. Mr Monserrate is currently heading a staff of around 50, including 36 police constables, one assistant sub inspector, one ASI, driver and 9 head constables. The Siolim police station also has one 5 tonne interceptor boat, one 12 tonne interceptor boat, 1 gypsy and 2 motorcycles.

  1. Considering a large police force and the area it has to cover, is 1 gypsy and 2 motorcycles enough? Or is it politics?

  2. I wonder why Remo the prominent son of Siolim was not invited or present for the inauguration of the Coast Guard Police Station. If at all he was an invitee he would definitely refuse to accept the invitation to be present there because the most and deepest corrupt politician drug baron Ravi chor was to inaugurate the facility. As you all know Remo is an outright refusal of such invitation when these corrupt politicians are invited.
