CM REFRAINING FROM TAKING A STAND ON MICKKY ISSUE

PANJIM: The Bharatiya Janata Party has said that the golden jubilee celebrations of state’s Liberation began on a “lackluster” note because of the on-going political drama that started on the eve of the celebrations and that the Chief Minister could not pay proper attention to the organisation of programme in wake of the developments.
Addressing a press conference, on Thursday afternoon, the BJP state president, Mr Laxmikant Parsekar said that inclusion of a member in cabinet was the prerogative of the Chief Minister and that he should exercise it judiciously.
Mr Parsekar, however, said that the Chief Minister was playing to the gallery and refraining from taking a stand on the issue.  Describing the ongoing political situation in the state as a drama, Mr Parsekar called for an immediate end to the issue, even as he said that those opposing the inclusion of Francisco Xavier Pacheco themselves were not clean and should refrain from calling them differently.
Stating that the people of Goa have elected the Congress party legislators to rule the state, he went on to ask why the government was approaching the high command in New Delhi every now and then for advice and how to run the government. He also said that a large number of theft cases were reported from Margao.
The party spokesperson, Mr Rajendra Arlekar criticised the statement made by the Home Minister, Mr Ravi Naik, as regards to cases of drugs in the state, which he described as giving a certificate of “innocence” to Dudu and Atala, who were caught in drug-related cases by the police.
Demanding a White Paper on the drug cases in the state, Mr Arlekar went to state that the nexus between Dudu, Atala and Roy be probed by an independent agency.
Drawing attention to the presentation of Chief Minister’s medal to Chandrakant Salgaonkar, who is probing the drug-related cases, he wondered whether the award was justified.
