PANJIM: Four tainted cops posted at the immigration counter in Goa airport, who were transferred for allegedly demanding money from foreigners on visa on landing are still working there due to administrative lapses. Sources said two head constables and two constables were transferred recently from Immigration counter of Goa airport after police establishment board recommended their transfer.
Although 15 days have passed after the transfer order, the cops are still working there. Superintendent of Police (Immigration) Tony Fernandes said that the transfer cannot be executed as the department has not given the replacement for them. "We are receiving around 10-15 chartered flights everyday. I need someone to replace them if they are shifted out of airport," he said.
Police sources said that seniors had filed a confidential report against these cops for demanding money from foreign Person visa on landing.
"The police establishment board have taken strong cognisance of their act and had recommended their transfer," a senior official said adding that all the four have been working there for last 10 years. Fernandes, however, said that the transfer was not due to corruption charges but because they have completed their tenure at the airport posting – PTI
